Problems with downloading

Post by Rbotekmaster » Mon Apr 26, 2004 3:02 pm

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'm on a mac and everytime I try to download an .avi or .mpeg video, the thing tries to play instead of going to my desktop so I can take it home.

I do all my downloading form my school computers so it's a major problem.

Do a control-click, or whatever the Mac version of right-click is, and save as.

Well, how large was it? Depending on the file size, that might be the video. You just need to rename it.

No that won't be it. That is the local download page's php file. In your browser options you should be able to change something so they don't play automatically. I don't have a mac so you'll have to search for it yourself. : /

Actually, Corran, sometimes that works. I've done it more than once myself, renamed the resulting file, and watched the video.

OK, so that only applies to direct downloads.

Most likely you dont have the proper decoder to play the video. If it is in avi format, it most likely requies Divx. Some people don't encode the video properly though, so a better solution would be the FFDShow filter.

Hey,

@Rbotekmaster: Which browser are you using?
@inuyashas_ tetsusaiga: Make sure you have the proper codecs.

ffd_show should work.
