Go ahead and "remaster" the audio for Witch Hunter Robin: Revolutions then. If you do, I'll give you a cookieSynching is no problem. I've only had one video out of so many that I actually had to try and guess where the audio was supposed to be re-inserted once I had remastered it (based on the fact that it was a MOV video file and I cannot synch to MOV files that easily)
How I do it is my secret, but I'm sure you can guess what I do

The only DVDs I've seen that are in widescreen are things that were originally intended to be widescreen. If something was made to be in 4:3, sod the "trends", it should be left in 4:3. After all, we don't demand that DVDs of anime TV series are all in widescreen do we?dark_myuutwo wrote:And for anyone who is wondering why in the hell I'm doing this in widescreen: I want to catch up to current trends in the DVD and consumer market, based on the fact that most DVD's are widescreen (even though they are that for a reason) for that reason

I don't know what's left to be said. I don't think there's anyone here that will support this idea. Not only that, but how would you even go about determining the "best" videos listed in the site? Best in what aspect? The ones you like the most? Best technical? Drama? Romance? What about videos that aren't listed in the site's catalog?

This is bad. Very very very bad.

Look, dude, sixty different people are screaming for your blood. Give up. It's not a good idea. If you want to make DVDs for yourself, knock yourself out, but don't act like you're going to save the Org with your brilliant plan.
I understand that you want to help, but frankly, if a magical answer to all our problems were that easy, someone else would have thought of it and done it already.

If by "most DVDs" you mean "most DVDs of <i>movies</i>", then yes. Those are widescreen <i>because the source is widescreen.</i>dark_myuutwo wrote:And for anyone who is wondering why in the hell I'm doing this in widescreen: I want to catch up to current trends in the DVD and consumer market, based on the fact that most DVD's are widescreen (even though they are that for a reason) for that reason
But to force 4:3 source into widescreen format is just pointless. Either you lose data by cropping, or you make it look bad by stretching it.

In short:
Fuck this idea.
I've tried to disect it and come up with a positive way of looking at your idea (because I support the idea of supporting the Org), and ultimatly couldn't. It's bad on so many levels that I don't even want to start to elaborate on them for fear of developing carpal tunnel.

Exactly what went wrong, anyway?trythil wrote:You're ignoring the fact that it's best to present material in its original aspect ratio, not follow trends. If you want an example of how things can go wrong, go buy Manga Video's DVD release of Wings of Honneamise.
And to further add to the confusion, I'd like to point out that the AMVs themselves are copyrighted by their authors, and that changing/"remastering"/whatever without the creator's permission is very bad. Or at least, I think so...I'm not a lawyer.
Another pointless post!
