Man, you guys really think His and Her Circumstances is the best romance anime? I didn't like it at all, story, main characters, or animation style. Asaba was kinda cool though.

Romance - Gravitation (and the manga Mars, although I agree with the previous poster that Hot Gimick is great too)
Mythic - Utena (and American manga GloomCookie)
Historical - Berserk (and ps1 game Vagrant Story)
Science Fiction - Crest of the Stars and Uninhabited Planet Survive
Fantasy - o.O Hmm, y'know I've seen several fantasy series, but none of them were that great _as fantasy_. Maybe I just don't like fantasy worldbuilding done anime style? Anyway, guess I'd have to say Sorcerer Hunters. And Magic Users' Club is really cute - gotta love those energizer daisies ^_^ ) May change my mind after I've seen Haibane Renmei and Wolf's Rain.
