Hmm, well it's definately not a requirement. It would be nice if they shared the interest, but it's hardly necessary. Obviously you're going to have something you like that the other doesn't and vice versa.
Same thing goes for most of my friends, some of my like it (and are consequently planning my will distribution...) and some hate it (and enjoy teasing me with various ways of destroying my collection...or just teasing me in general....) and some are indifferent (and subsequently roll their eyes whenever plan a or plan b are executed in their presence).

Actually compromise can be a good thing. Before I was a little weirded out when an ex-girlfriend suggested role-playing. Now I can't get enough of girls in those maid, nurse and schoolgirl outfits... especially when they're in those thigh-high stockings.Cloud Clone wrote:Noooooo!!! You must never compromise! some of us would most definitly take what we can get, assuming she's not a total dog...liking anime would just be a bonus.
on a related note, if i had a girlfriend, i would probably lose some of my interest in anime and manga, since they, along with reading s-f and making grades, are the things i do to distract myself from the fact that i don't have a girlfriend...sigh...

That seems pretty accurate. I'm not one of the pervs, but there's a frightening amount of them. One guy that was hanging around us for some reason, began hittting on a friend's twelve year old sister, and he was like 30 to 40 years of age. It was truly disgusting, and I quickly put him on my ten step plan . . .

I think saying they MUST like what you like is a bit limiting, and misses the point. You're not dating a list of hobbies; you're dating a PERSON.
No hobby or entertainment form is so important to me that I would require somebody like it. Just don't be an ass and give me room to like what I want. Anybody who makes pissy comments about me because I play video games, for example, is not somebody I want to hang around just because that's an immature and obnoxious thing to do. But if they just don't like playing themselves, no problem. Everybody's tastes are different, after all.
They just have to know that I'm still going to watch it if I like it, on my own time.
