One option is to link to Amazon.com and search Popular Music for terms like "80s", "Eighties", etc.
It will come back with a list of compilation CDs; most will have track lists; some will have music samples.
Another source would be the track lists of soundtrack CDs from well-known movies that were set in the period. "The Breakfast Club" and "Grosse Point Blank" come to mind. I'm sure there are many others.

The only (probably) popular song of that period that sticks out in my head right now is
David Bowie - Heroes
(and knowing my musical obsessions, you can probably guess the reason for that )

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

To add more...
Ted Nugent - "Cat Scratch Fever"
Journey - "Wheel in the Sky"
Genesis - "Land of Confusion"
Tom Pettty and the Heartbreakers - "Last Dance with Mary Jane"
Rush - "Tom Sawyer"
Rush - "Subdivisions"
Blind Melon - "No Rain"
Soul Asylum - "Runaway Train"
Collective Soul - "December"
I don't have the dates on those, but most of them are from the early 80s to the early 90s. The first four are classic rock, but pretty pop-sounding. Rush is more prog rock, but really good. The last three are alternative.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Haven't heard Bizarre Love Triangle, but Blue Monday is good.ithaqua wrote: New Order Blue Monday or Bizarre Love Triangle
(however, I like Orgy's cover of it better)
Also, what about "Elegia"?
Damn I love that song.
Maybe its because I first heard it in the short film "More", but I really don't know why....
(btw, has anyone seen "More"? it was on SciFi's now defunct short film show "Exposure")
I liked all these....el_farlo wrote:
