Well, except Jeet Kun Do...but karate is actually a style of martial arts in itself, so the question defeats itself somewhat.
You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.

I wouldn't nessecarily say it's a requirement, but something's gotta be said for importance.
Anime is one of those bigger hobbies. You typically don't just see 'anime' fans. Fans of anime are generally fans of comic books, video games, movies and/or pop culture in general. It's almost like a prerequisite... you must be able to enjoy these things to enjoy Anime. (Not saying this as that's how it is, but rather as a general observation) so finding a girl/boy who likes Anime generally means they'll be tolerent/into your other major hobbies as well. While hobby isn't the most important factor of a relationship, it's definetly high up there. You don't want to annoy your mate with all you have to say on those particular topics. Basically, my point is finding another anime fan is more or less, a fail safe into falling into the "We don't have enough in common" trap.

I don't feel that my b/f has to to like anime but being respectful of it is a must. of course i get crap from a few of my friends when they are like "it's a cartoon" when i rush home to watch my show but my current "boyfriend" tends to take it to far. i tell him he may like it and he doesn't even let me explain my point he jsut sits there and says "nerd" out loud over top of my voice. grrrrr and he called me a treky once yea that's right ONCE. and it's amazing how something like anime and your significant others response to it can affect the relationship especially if they are just plan rude about it and do nothing but call you nerk, geek, and treky for it. sigh

sorries for the double post but i meant nerd not nerky...gawd
and a dating a boy who does like anime would be stellar to the max as long as that's not what the relationship is based off of, there has to be more to a person than anime i would hope. but it would definatly be a brownie point

I think it's okay if the other person doesn't like anime or video games, as long as they accept that we're into it. If they're disrespectful of our obsessions, then they're disrespecting us by extension.
So far, none of the girls (or women) I've dated are even tolerant of the fact that I like anime.
Another pointless post!
