heh, funny how half the discussion is back and forth about usage of a word that means happy in dictionary terms and homosexual in contextual. RK? definitely went downhill after shishio. fights with shishio's crew shoulda been longer...i mean i think we all agree its cool to watch an almost godlike swordsmaster beat a giant in less than ten seconds but cool can only go so far. the fight with the Christian guy was semi-bearable...then i started nodding off. my suggestions of kenshin: watch ALL the oavs and kyoto and shishio arc (unless shishio is part of what people call the kyoto arc then my apologies) you can watch the eps before that but they aren't anything out of the ordinary.

I see what your saying about the chi thing. I even believe in chi to an extent. I don't believe, however, that you can take a ouija/compass board thing and shoot out blast of energy and wind and stuff. Now maybe you could do that stuff, but you'd have to have supernatural help, in some form. You couldn't do it simply by correctly aligning chi paths or whatever. But that's what I'm reffering to as magic. Not the chi aspect, but the crazy inhuman stuff. And that stuff wouldn't have bothered me so much if they hadn't, pretty much, abondoned all the sword play. There is a little sword fighting, but not nearly enough. I hope I explained that well.

The stuff with the Amaksa(probably spelled wrong) guy- or the christian guy as you so lovingly called him- was actually not as bad as the rest of the third season. It was still disappointing, but, as you said, it was semi-bearable. They should of taken the entire season on the christian guy and made it good. I mean, the idea of another person who can use the Hiten Mitsurugi, is an awesome concept. In my oppinion, though, they did mess it up and rushed through it and just didn't stay true to what I had seen in previous Kenshin. But whatever.
This is good. I look forward to seeing more peoples' opinions on this matter. I'm so lonely.

Yea, that stuff with the china-chess board+mumbling=winds of fury was offcourse totally unrealistic and imo lame. 
I was shaking my head and cutting my nails during those parts. And although man cannot manipulate the earths chi flow, we can benefit from it. In example, it would be easyer for me to get my chi flow or accumulate if I were to train in a area with strong earth chi. Its actually interesting to see how many mangakas know about stuff such as chi and some of its usages.. good examples of this is the RK & DB/Z mangas. Offcourse its a little over the top in a comic book, put the principles are right. Now i'm going offtopic so to save my face i'll just order everyone to go vote for shishio in the villian vs thread

I became bored with Kenshin fast.
The swordsmanship was well done, but too many episodes were random occurances.
I prefer events to lead up to something with a little more interconnection.
I thought his past would be a better show anyway.

When people use the word fag I usually just say something in reference to cigarettes and try to find humor in something that wasn't suppose to be funny.
I say to hell with PC and censorship. It only serves to further separate people by making differences that much more obvious.
Trying so hard not to be prejudice is a prejudice. If you have to think about it your denoting a difference by tip-toeing around it.
It kills me when people say the 'n word.' Its not like it doesn't have the same implication as the word nigger. Besides most real racists spell it wrong and leave out a 'g'.
Most racism is a matter of convenience. Hitler for all his eugenics beliefs came up with a crack-pot lie about how Germans went exploring centuries ago and founded Japan. That of course is why Germany could ally with Japan.
The word gay may have its origin in hate, but words change over time. Now it just means lame to most open minded people. Its all a matter of interpretation. (Of course wars have been fought over interpretation.)
Plenty of words have origins in hate. The word Christian was given by others. The word Protestant was given by Catholics. The base being 'protest.'
If a name doesn't bother you it loses all of its intended hate.
If you have heard that it is the thought that counts...well it applies here too.

I always found it sadly ironic that people would commit witch hunts in the name of god despite the fact that Jesus was such a passivist. If you think about the proposed miracles seem an awful lot like witchcraft.
Censorship is in the same boat as Political Correctness. The more it is used the more obvious it becomes. Hell when I was five I could have told you exactly what word just got bleeped or piss poorly dubbed over on TV. Sure he is a 'monkey fellow', yeah right. If curse words are so damaging, then someone has a pretty easy life. There are so many bigger things to worry about.
The fact that it is taboo is what makes it wrong. It is a normative enforcement thing. When things aren't swept under the rug, people stop viewing it as strange or wrong.
Upon an epiphany one day it occurred to me that an insult only works if the target of the insult thinks highly enough of the insulter to care.
Anyway El Diablo Rojo could have just used the word lame instead of gay. It would not have really changed the intended meaning, so who cares.

oh, sure, words like nigger, fag, they can be used coloquealy (sp?), esspesually by the people they were intended to hurt. me and my little brother trade the word nigger (or nigga) around like crazy. i got a skinhead friend who's a TOTAL dyke, and a gay friend that i knew since the 2nd grade, and they both call me a fag all the damn time (or vice versa) without any harm intened.
but its kinda like this: not being gay, who are we to decide what they should get over? joe (the skinhead) once bashed a kids face into a soda machine for calling her a dyke. hey, nothing i havent already called her, right? but unless you really know the person (like she knows me) its hard to know if theyre being funny, hurtful, or dismissive. in this case, we knew the kid was being hurtful. after the fight, it all seemed to roll over, but why SHOULDNT she take offence?
and, yeah, alot of people were burned at the stake. witches, jews, adultresess, enemies of war... but most people who were burned at the stake were treated with a kind of hatred that was instilled by fear. gays were considered below human respect. its like, in the 1950's, the way we hated soviets was different from the way we hated black people (lol, sorry, just finished the book, black boy, and thats fresh in my mind). fag is a really cynical word thats used the same way as nigger. how much worth does a peice of fag wood have? what do we do with fags? pshh, toss it in the fire, have a rost over it. its a social event! hahaha, look at the fag scream like a puss.
and i totaly agree with you about if you care to much about curse words, then you have a simple ass life (and anybody who knows me knows i got a dirty ass mouth) but some words meanings run deep into our civilazations history. nigger goes back to ancient german tribes. it ment surf. but its really hard for us in modern times to know just what being a surf ment. surfs were property that were (again) below human respect. kill one, doesnt really matter. theyre dogs, theyre roaches. they deserve death just for thinking theyre high enough to look you in the eye. naturally, what was the biggest population that was america's equivelent to surfs throught 3/4's of its history?
