Now and Then, Here and There has a fat motherly character in it. She takes care of a bunch of orphens. N&T, H&T is really depressing though.

And Tokyo Godfathers has a girl in it that is more heavy set than usual.... But I don't know if you can call her truly fat.

Alright, first off: Angelx03, that's pretty gross...good job!

Next, I have a question: Why are we asking for fat people in anime? I thought we used it to get away from real life.... = /

Now, my actual input on the topic: There were lots of random fatties in Cowboy Bebop, most notably Annie in the last 2 eps.

As for a fat men, there are several throughout Rurouni Kenshin, if they fight at all.

I guess there aren't too many fatties that make it to being main characters...hm, I didn't really notice. *shrugs*
You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.

Considering the anorexic looking types being the norm in tv and anime, then the realistic looking women in the original Dirty Pair series will probably be what you are interested in. They aren't fat, but perhaps by comparison they may seem to be.

(I see that a lot in ecchi pictures, those are the butt cheeks you see)

One person I once knew described anime as "Cartoons with a bunch of perfect looking people." When you can have good-looking people, why have bad-looking ones? That's why, often, there's nothing but people with perfect bodies in anime.

May I interest you in Asuka from Evangelion?

Yep... That is definitely one thong nobody wants to see! My congrats as well, Angelx03.

Why ask for fat people? Well, when you get a never-ending stream of physically perfect characters, they all start to look the same after a while; we could use some variety. Having things more realistic in the made-up stories also makes the real world more bearable when we return to it.

I don't remember the other chunky girls in Cowboy Bebop, but now that you mention it, Annie was rather well-rounded, wasn't she? She was also another motherly type with a little hard-as-nails attitude thrown in. Works well for a drama, but I bet fat people could make great characters in comedy, too.

My idea for a comedy scene featuring fat people: a fat woman, always the butt of a lot of jokes for her weight, finds the man of her dreams (also significantly overweight) and they go walking down a street hand-in-hand, plowing a crowd of peers and colleagues out of the way with their bellies.

Another good reason for having fat girls in anime: in an AMV, this kind of thing would, of course, go well with "Fat" by Weird Al Yankovic.
