Just so you know, most DQ's from rules were because they used credits that had thier studio (that's why the Telephone Love video didn't win, even though it was HANDS DOWN the best theme entry, but the creator put his studio name in the vid, and the judges were told that if we let any through that they are not to vote for it) The only other video that was dq'd was one that had the word Mutha Fucka uttered in it.OmniStrata wrote:Well, I'm glad I didn't stay to see all of the contest then cause my video wasn't shown.
I suppose it was disqualified due to the adult content [Mizuho and Kei kissing] at the end.
Though even with that, they showed "I Must Increase My Bust" for the old-school amv section. [which I KNOW had far more fanservice...]
I managed to see my NES Project on bigscreen *drool* yay...
Well, I guess there's always next year. Though somehow, I feel as though that Japanese Popular Music isn't a good idea to send to the con. *shrug* Guess I just have to keep cracking at it. *wack whack*
And yeah, if I knew patrick was going to queue the "I must increase my bust" vid I'd probably have removed it. he loaded it then left. I had to dq nudity because the con told me too, but next year I'm going to see if we can expand on it, because, I could care less about nudity, just as long as it's not graphic sexual nudity (if we go with an "Adult section" for late night next year, those videos will go there.)
As for why your video was cut, I don'tr recall why, it was more than likely removed from the closed pre-screeening the rest of Live Programming helped me with, and in those cases I just told them to let me know if we should cut it or if it stayed. I got rid of the friday prejudging so we could do more stuff, and that worked, but there still is a glaring problem with finding a method to cut videos that's fair to everyone. As much as I'd like to do it awa style, I can't (and don't want to since I don't want to copy them acen should be unique) So I will be working on that for next year.
Gimme a minute, I'll make a cool one....

Apologies if this has already been brought up and I missed it, but why wasn't there a list posted ahead of time of which videos would be shown? I didn't enter this contest, but I know how frustrating it is to scour forums and mailing lists after a con to see if your video was shown, only to be disappointed.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

Mostly because we didn't cut videos until I was at the con that thursday to meet with patrick and have people watch all the videos, it's hard to do it before since:Kusoyaro wrote:Apologies if this has already been brought up and I missed it, but why wasn't there a list posted ahead of time of which videos would be shown? 1. I live in Northwest Indiana and Quu lives in Atlanta Georgia
2. Nobody who likes amv's, except me is around to do the screening to cut vids, and I know you want more than one opinion on what video is good and what is not. I could get my friends, but they've told me, numerous times, that they hate music videos and think it's dumb. And I KNOW nobody wants someone with that additude judging their videos.
3. The only time I can get people who like amv's to do a screening is the day before the convention kicks off.
But I agree, if there's a way to streamline it so we can do it before the con, that'd be even better, it would allow us to devote time to making sure other things are getting taken care of. But to do it I'd either need to download all of the videos from Quu, (and this year we had 16 gigs of videos!) and find people to watch them, or watch them myself and decide if it's good or not.

Heh, I submitted thinking mine wouldn't be shown. So I didn't bother checking. And then it got honorable mention. I think the surprise was worth not knowing. ;pKusoyaro wrote:Apologies if this has already been brought up and I missed it, but why wasn't there a list posted ahead of time of which videos would be shown? Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.
