Alright Serial Experiments Lain is about who else but Lain. Who is she? Why is she the way she is? How does she do all those nifty things?

Alright in the first few episodes it is explained by Lains dead friend that if you die you can insert your mind into the wired. For those of you who dont quite understand what the wired is its the internet. So for the next few episodes you have Lain getting into computer which after this explanation you will laugh at since she is already in the computer... Not laughing... Well you will be. In the episode where the young man kills himself you get your first glance at "wired lain". Just view her as badass Lain for right now. the young man dies because of the things Wired lain says to him. Reality is basically unimportant is the jist of what she said. Soon you start learning about the KNIGHTS. This is a group that is trying to take control of the wired. Its members are very influential people in the wired but not necassarily in real life. Now then about now you start seeing men in business suits spying on Lain. I wonder who they could be spying on Lain for? Soon hereafter, Lain's sister's mind gets fucked up by the KNIGHTS. Bad move for them. There is a random part in the series where it seems like people just get killed for no reason and dissapear. Once is a mother, another is some fat guy in a dirty apartment, another is a successful businessman. These guys are the KNIGHTS and Lain basically finds out who they are and sends them to government officials who seem to neutralize the KNIGHTS. There seems to be one exception. The boy that Lain talks with about alot of the computer things early on. He was training to be in KNIGHTS and i guess he was contacted but was never officially invited to join the group. About this time in the series Lain has a special chip and her room is nothing but wires and coolant systems. No more teddy bear shi'at. Lain sees a man with red stripes under his eyes. This is supposed to be the father of the wired. The god if you will. Him and Lain have a small standoff then he dissapears. At this point Wired Lain's behavior is most apparent. The rest of the series focuses on Lain better understanding the wired (another funny aspect) and herself in the wired. Towards the end its increasingly apparent that Lain herself exists in two places at once and eventually the personalities merge to form wired lain version 2.0 I guess you might say. The wired and reality also seem to merge and Lain seems to be the most powerful entity in existance. Now lets go to the opening of each episode so I dont lose anyone. A voice says: Present day, present time then laughs. For those of you who dont understand this and while other previous aspects of this overview let me explain it to you. In the end of SE: Lain, she discovers that the world would have been better off without her so she basically resets the world to the point where she doesnt exist. That way nothing bad happens with her sister, Lain doesnt have to feel out of place, and thier isnt anything bad going on with Alice (her friend at school who was having sexual relations with the teacher). Its not really the present time cuz Lain reset the world. Thats why is kind of funny. Its also funny that Lain is like god with the wired and computers when she is in fact better than anyone at any given time. I hope I have explained things well. If i havnt feel free to explain it yourselves. Im a bit sketchy minded on the last 4 episodes. Well I think I got most of it down.

id like to personaly thank everyone involved in this 0WN4GE

There is a plot, you have to actually watch it. Meaning pay attention to the details. There are LOTS of details you won't pick up on the first time around. You have to watch the ENTIRE series as well.

It is good, if your interested was sparked in the first four, then continue it gets more interesting and very involved. They pull the story from alot of interesting information on the world and electronics.

It would seem to me that you have some issues with a homosexual lifestyle that you need to work out before posting in an angry and condescending way.

As for my stupid, narrowminded (I'm going to assume thats what you meant to say. I hope you know you wrote mined instead of minded. What am I, a mine-worker working in a narrow mine or something? Just to let you know, when you're attacking someone, you don't want to give them anything to fight back with- even spelling or grammatical mistakes. It may be childish to use spelling against someone, but it still makes them look stupid, and I don't care, so I use it anyway. I don't spell everything right all the time, but its just a piece of advice, especially when you are trying to act mad. Spelling something wrong takes the anger out of your words and replaces it with humor. I doubt thats what you were going for. I also doubt you meant to write narrowmined. So, I will assume you meant narrowminded, but if I'm wrong, please inform me and I will try to respond accordingly) and offensive comment (oh you spelled that wrong, too), you can attribute it to the fact that I'm just joking around with Coolman. He knows it, so just shut the fuck up and keep to yourself next time. Please pardon my language usage.

Now, getting back to Lain. I have now seen the first four episodes and the last three episodes, and I have to say, you almost don't need the episodes between those sections. I'm sure it would make more sense if I saw the other episodes, and I still plan on seeing them, but I still understood a lot of what was going on. One of the last episodes even had a sort of recap of what had happened to that point. So, I think Lain is a pretty cool show, and I look forward to watching the rest soon. I'm so lonely.

To Coolman XL:
1) Yes, Lain has a plot. It may be confusing to some, yet not to others. It's hard to say whether or not you will enjoy the series as people's tastes vary quite a bit. If you do not like filling in the gaps and want everything explained to you in crystal clear terms, you may want to refrain from getting the rest of the series though.

To El Diablo Rojo:
2) It is (or should be) common knowledge that one's comprehension of an anime series is not in any way, shape or form related to one's sexual preferences.

#2 leads into...

3) Please do not post in a derogatory fashion, even if you know the person unless you make it ABUNDANTLY CLEAR TO EVERYONE ELSE. Your comment, coming from out of the blue, can easily be misconstrued as a personal attack which, if you read the forum rules like you were supposed to when you registered, is not condoned here. As such, you should be prepared for some sort of backlash in the form of other people who may defend the people (who may or may not be your friends) that you may have targeted.

In short, try not to piss off people in the case of simple misunderstandings.

I will agree that a person's comprehension of something won't be affected by their sexual preferences. However, I didn't say anything about his comprehension of the show, I discussed his dislike of it. Someone's sexual preference will definitely affect their like or dislike of something. If you are gay, you apparently are thinking differently from someone who is straight. When people think differently, they like different things. Do you understand?

Also, I guess I gave the people on this forum (or at least two of them) too much credit. I thought they were smarter than they have shown themselves to be. The way I wrote made it pretty obvious that I know Coolman, I guess it was just not obvious enough to some people. I even started talking about him cutting a Kleenex box while watching it. How do you expect me to know that if I don't know the dumb bitch? So I'm sorry for thinking that you were at least marginally smart and for thinking you could put things together on your own. I will try in the future to spell everything out as clear as possible and make it so that even you can understand.

Oh, and don't start talking to me about something being construed as a personal attack. People can construe things to mean almost anything they want. I could take your post as derogatory to me. I could take Coolman's post as derogatory to me. You could take this post as derogatory to you (and you probably should). People hear what they want to hear. Also, don't stand up for people unless you have a really good reason. If your only reason is that you don't like something that was said against someone else, you should make sure the person found it offensive before you go and start a fight over it on their behalf. All you do is piss people off, and thats probably not a good thing.

So, I once again apologize for assuming that the intelligence level of certain people on this forum was higher than it apparently is. Lets not fight over something stupid. I'm so lonely.

Yes, it could be inferred from your posts that the two of you know each other, however, other people can easily get offended by your remark about homosexuality, whether it be kidding or not. In the future, I suggest you consider some of your posts a little before you go and post them. Especially when you insult board members (and a mod), for a clearly expected (and even justified) reaction.

*back on topic* I think bum's post with the spoilers does a good job of explaining the series. Personally, I liked the series, primarily because it was so different from any other anime I had seen at the time, as well as the fact that it made me think.
Another pointless post!

He's an admin, that's what he's supposed to do on this forum - explain the rules. This is the third time you've posted homophobic remarks on this forum that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. Don't take his response as derogatory, take it as a warning from the admin that you're coming very close to breaking the forum rules against personal attacks. Whether you know the person or not, you don't know bum, but that didn't stop you from making comments that are quite frankly none of your business to make.

See here's the thing. I didn't know he was an admin until after I had posted. I then felt very stupid and laughed at myself and then cried. I am very sorry and please don't kick me off the sight. Which means if he wasn't an admin I'd love to argue with him, but since he is, I don't want to get in trouble.

However, as for my homophobic remarks, allow me to try to explain. I believe I posted in another place that gay is a word I've grown up with as meaning stupid or lame or something. When I say Coolman has a homosexual lifestyle, it is another way of me calling him stupid. For me, gay, and all words meaning the same, has lost most of its sexual connotaions. I am not meaning to offend gay people, but am just speaking the only way I know how.

Maybe subconsciously I am homophobic. I will tell you outright that I do not support the homosexual lifestyle. Does that make me homophobic? Maybe. However, that is my choice. Just like its their choice to be gay, Its my choice not to condone that choice. But, I wasn't even talking about that. I was only joking around with someone. I mean, I've seen people joking around about killing eachother, but it was done in a joking manner which is what I was trying to accomplsh.

I apologize to paizuri for my comments toward him. It was uncalled for and childish.

I however do not apologize to bum for anything. If you want to nail someone for personal attacks, nail him. He is obviously the belligerent one. He blatantly attacked my intelligence with what he wrote. Did I go and cry about it? Only a little, and then I attacked his intelligence. If you don't want to be in a fight, don't start them. But also don't participate in fights if you don't want to fight, regarless of who started them.

Regarding my previous homophobic posts, they weren't homophobic until someone attacked them. By that I mean that, while I may have used the word, I did not mean to attack gays, regardless of how I feel about them. It wasn't until someone got angry about my usage or something that it got kind of homophobic. What I'm saying is that I never wanted to fight about this. You did.

I will probably not stop retaliating to posts against my usage of a word. If you post saying that you don't like my usage of the word gay, I will say that you probably have some unresolved issues with homosexuality (insinuating that you, yourself are gay). Thats because if you're getting angry over something so insignificant, you apparently do have issues with it, whether you are gay or not.

Once again, I am sorry for trying to attack paizuri. It is never wise to fight with someone who has any kind of power over you. They usually win, even if their argument isn't as good as yours. I will try in the future to not come across as attacking. I probably still will, but note that I am trying to not come across that way. I still believe that there are better examples of personal attacks on this forum than my post.

Well, I hope I explained myself well enough for you. If not, let me know what you don't understand and I will be more than happy to attempt to explain myself better. I'm so lonely.
