You cannot do it; you cannot make this into a worthwhile AMV. It's a fun song, but making a decent AMV from it is artistically impossible.
Pen-Pen comes to mind.... :D
Rorschach wrote:Anything from another anime.

The song already goes to an anime! Anyone who's watched that anime won't be able to forget that anime when watching any AMV of yours that uses it.
No? Take a look at Scintilla's Eva bebop (I'm too lazy to link).
Rorschach wrote:Any instrumental for a movie

Same basic theory: if people composed it for a movie, how's anyone going to be able to forget the movie and pay attention to the anime when watching your video? Exception: songs that originated somewhere else, such as the Clockwork Orange score (classic composers played on modern instruments) and music from The Sting (orchestrated Scott Joplin). Also, if they didn't actually use the instrumental in the movie, maybe no one will know the difference. (I don't recall hearing Rachel's Song in Blade Runner, although it's on the soundtrack CD.)
Puh-lease. What's wrong with it, really? If you're concerned about people comparing your work to the movie, pick something obscure.

No More Mix

Gregorian chant says JoyKiller

I agree. However some flute music is cool. Some is erie and spine chilling. Not the Irish lets drink and river dance flute music though.

Instrumentals for movies work. You may want to try the one at Majin-Planet.

I myself would love to make an AMV to the Mission Impossible II theme. (John Woo movie  )

I do agree that Cher's Believe should never ever be used. You know how long I thought that lame song was by N-suck. I don't know if that means Cher sounds more like a man or N-Sync sounds more like girls.

Boy bands. (NONONONONONO BAD)
Only half that name is right. They don't play instruments so the band part is wrong. Sorry if you have to constantly work on an image to stay famous, its sad. The list of fallen boy bands is probably huge and no one remembers them or feels the loss.

If you still have to jump and dance in a circle you're not a cool muscian your a entertainer, one step up from striper.

Yoda would be a funny kenshin video maybe. Or maybe coffee drinking scenes. Burn Up Excess has a few funny scenes envolving soda.

If I use a song from another anime it might be as a credit intro. But some anime actually have professional bands hired on to the show.

An example would be FLCL. The Pillows are a real band, not a TV band.
Freako wrote:At Anime Boston 2003 someone used the original score from "The Goonies" . The song changed several different times and was like 12 minutes long (ok .. so it felt like 12 minutes).

never again.
please.
Please tell me your joking and someone didn't really do that.

For my own input, I say song mixes.

Damn hate the jumbled sound of songs fused together. Especially if the speeds get changed. Why not just stick all the CDs in a giant blender and record that sound.

Actually, now that I think of it, somebody did make a manga of Star Wars. If that were ever to be an anime, you could do a good take-off of that using this song. It's just that the subject's too specific for other animes. You want to make a good video, the song has to fit the subject matter.

I've seen that. The exception to my "no anime songs" rule, of course, is when you're TRYING to make people think of another anime. The comedy principle at play here is the same one I remember seeing in a combined movie parody, Gump Fiction.

Quote from that trailer: "Lahf is like a bawx a' chawklets. Seems lahk, you open'em up and somebody's taken a bite out'a every one of'em. That's whah ah keep mah loaded fort'fahv in there..."

Now if someone were to make a parody video with all the anime characters in it dressed up like Star Wars characters...!

Yes, obscure is good. As a girl in a parody said when a guy asked her whether she was reusing a line from another movie she'd been in: "Yeah, but I figured the six people who saw that disaster wouldn't mind."

General-purpose instrumentals from movies are fine, too. Chances are that nobody will complain if you use something by Tangerine Dream from the movie Firestarter, for example, as long as you don't mention that's where you got it.

Tab posted in his LJ a while back a clip that used Raining Men to Pokemon. It was deliciously wrong.

For me personally, I feel that the only reason to argue against doing an AMV to a rap song is that it's hard to fit just about any anime to rap. I don't think it shouldn't be done though, you just have to find the right song and the right anime. I do think that most rap songs could be perfect for comedy videos, if done right.
Probably too busy to be here right now.

Songs NOT to use?

Any scores from video games. I had to painfully sit though one that used a score from Final Fantasy VII, and I think I about died. It was SOOO boring.

SOME scores are okay. But generally, stay away from those like the plague, I say.
Are you REAL karaters?!
