Post by bum » Sat May 22, 2004 12:01 pm

ive seen this on two other forums i reguraly visit. its basicaly a button that can be used to report any posts that one feels a need to, and well, it basicaly reports te post to all mods and admins. dont know exactly how it works, seeing as im just a normal member at both boards, but it seems like a good idea

Although then some meanspirited fellow (with to much time on his hands) could go through and click the button on every post in the forum.

its not being a "wussy"and telling on them like children do..

its an attempt to keep the org a good forum, when ignorant trolls come and post useless non-sense or trying to start fights, cleaning them up is a way of keeping the garbage maintained.

I think the moderator drop box is good enough. We don't want someone going trigger happy because they see a shiny new button.

Maybe the button should be created in a way so that once a post gets "reported", that button becomes unclickable. I know the Anime News Network forums has done this type of stuff before and probably was able to figure out which posts are "false reports".

Sounds like a nice feature, but also sounds like a lot of work to implement with little gain.
