Upgrade to version 2.0 and you can do the speed adjustments and slight zooms. For color changes and other effects, I prefer to use VirtualDub or a paing program. Most people will tell you to get Premiere and After Effects if you want to make 'good' videos.

To edit I use:
Premiere 6 (tried Premiere Pro, didn't like it)
Photoshop 6
Just started learning After Effects so my first try at AE will be my DDR track this year.

Premiere pro for sure. I've gotten way too used to it that I had to keep using it. I tried 6.0 and felt like it was completely different. Basics were the same, but windows in different boxes and such...it slowed down my editing process. :(

Right click the video clip in the timeline to which you want to add the effect, and click Video Effects...
Click "Ease In" for a slow Zoom in, "Ease Out" for a slow Zoom out, "Slow Down, Half" to slow the speed down, or "Speed Up" to quicken the speed. Then click add>> and click OK.

Adobe Photoshop 5.5

Still never touched After Effects.

?_?

Wait, I know...

High quality audio encoding method:

Step one - Turn up yopur speakers all the way.

Step two - Call a freind and put the cellphone next to the speakers.

Step three - Hit "play" and run.

Step four - have friend record the song from his phone.

Result:
Extremely high quality audio, ready for editing.

(NOTE: kids, don't try this at home. For best results use speakers that fall into the category of "not yours" such as the ones at Best Buy.)
