School Presentation on AMV's
I'm doing a presentation for my anime class on AMV's as my final project, and I thought I'd have some creators answer questions, if that's alright with you guys.
1) Why did you start making AMV's?
2) How long did it take you to make your second video (time gap between 1st and 2nd)
3) How many AMV's have you made?
4) About how many do you make per year?
Thank you SO much to any of y'all who reply to this, you're doing an overly stressed college student and fellow AMV creator a HUGE favor!

Re: School Presentation on AMV's
Ok ^^
1) Why did you start making AMV's?
Because , after watching one AMV , I wanted to see an amv with a song and anime that I like.
2) How long did it take you to make your second video (time gap between 1st and 2nd)
Not sure , but I guess that was less than a month.
3) How many AMV's have you made?
Oh boy , I have so many crap in the last year that I can't remember how many I made it and then deleted from my comp. And that includes some live action music videos , like , car videos abd such.
4) About how many do you make per year?
Same answer of #3 , because I started to make vids last year.
^^

Re: School Presentation on AMV's
My friend put this site in my 'favorites' folder on my old comp and downloaded a bunch of vids. After watching a few, I decided to get more - ones I liked (rather then watching the ones she downloaded). I went crazy and downloaded every amv I could find that was under 50mbs (I had a 6 gig harddrive at the time). Then one day my computer died and I bought a new one. I realized my new computer had a dvd rom and wondered about my anime dvds and whether or not I could make vids like the ones I'd been watching. A little search and wow, I had windows movie maker already on my computer, and ShowBiz as well. I did some google searching, found out I could take that anime footage from my dvds and change it into a format windows movie maker could read. So I did just that. A single program and I had ripped about 46 episodes into avi format to use (at a gig per dvd). After that, I had no reason to hesitate, so I made vids out of the footage. Why? Because at the time there were no amvs for the romance pairings I wanted to watch vids for.Supaaren wrote:1) Why did you start making AMV's?
About 30 minutes. I only used 2 dvds for the first vid and I still had about 30 some episodes I hadn't even touched. So the footage was there, and I'd been looking for specific vids long enough that I knew just what I wanted to make. Actually *making* that video took hours since I had a lot of footage to sift through to find the exact scenes I was looking for.2) How long did it take you to make your second video (time gap between 1st and 2nd)
90 officially, 89 that have premiered here, and some 50 that were killed partway through and never finished. I like to keep the partials.3) How many AMV's have you made?
Around 87 finished ones, but this is my first year. Ask me in five years and it would probably be 20 per year.4) About how many do you make per year?

these threads might be helpful. Hatter (under the name wheee_it's_me!) did a writing essay on amv making:

1. my friend showed me a couple of amvs. my reaction was (a good ). a little while later when i got windows xp, i found windows movie maker and realized i could make my own. that and i've always enjoyed watching music videos, whether the official ones or amateur made.
2. i finished my first in mid-october 2002, i started my second in late november-ish and finished it in february 2003. so that's, um, three and a half months?
3. 8 + 1 abandoned
4. uhh, 4-5, i was hoping to do more this year, but i've been reaaallly lazy recently.

Because I thought it was a cool thing to do.Supaaren wrote:1) Why did you start making AMV's?
Hm, should I count my WMM vid or not? Okay, sure. In that case, 7 months. Most of that time was before I actually joined the Org.Supaaren wrote:2) How long did it take you to make your second video (time gap between 1st and 2nd)
Five. That's my story and I stick to it.Supaaren wrote:3) How many AMV's have you made?
I haven't really been at it long enough to have an accurate answer for this, but it seems like about three per year.Supaaren wrote:4) About how many do you make per year?

Re: School Presentation on AMV's
Because I wanted to see if I could ;p Mostly to see if i could learn premeire. It was fun, I liked the finished product, so I've been going ever since.Supaaren wrote: 1) Why did you start making AMV's?
Inspiration to do my first AMV came from Kwaseks A Thousand Miles originally. Hence why its Ghibli to a Vanessa carlton song. This was before I joined the org, or even knew about it.
I'd say about a month, or month and half.2) How long did it take you to make your second video (time gap between 1st and 2nd)
to date, 5. I'm also working on a 6th and possibly even a 7th for the Instrumental Fantasia project.3) How many AMV's have you made?
Hard to say yet, since this is my first year. At my current pace, it;ll probably be about 10 or so.

ya, i made my second vid RIGHT after my first. like, the next day. both were crap, but they were so cool when i was makin them. the first one was to dee dee ramones version of the blitzkrieg bop (off of the CD he made with youth gone mad) and the second one was when you get drafted by the dead kennedys.
by now i think ive made about 15 vids. and i only started this year so... wow, funny how only the noobs are answering.

1) Ideas, Movie Maker, CDs and DVDs - In other words I thought AMVs were cool, I had some ideas, found a free program and decided to make one of my own.
2) Let's see, my first vid (not premiered) was completed the weekend before 1st semester finals, so that's... about a month and twenty days (most of which was not spent editing, ripping, or making any progress whatsoever)
3) I've made three
4) I've been at it less then a year, so I don't know. I'll make more than three total this year, though.

My vid number nine. ^_^; It was the only amv I ever made where I *knew* I wanted to remaster it when I made it. It's never been listed, so only my roommates and a few fic readers have seen it. That will probably be one of the last vids I do - I've been putting off the remake for about a year now. I'm just not ready to redo it yet.DDramone wrote:whats teh one that hasnt premiered?
