Akira would probably get Neko KILLED!

The less violent part of your dad's nature really puts a damper on things.

Hmm. . .

Try Spirited Away

If they're single minded they won't like it anyway. No offence, but your Dad doesn't sound like he's gonna enjoy it.

Make sure it's something dubbed. Most people really hate reading, especially if they're already critical.

And they have to be open minded. If they're not, they'll hate whatever you show them.

I cannot really say whether my dad is openminded or not, its seems to me that you can never really tell about how he will react to certain things. I mean he never let me as a child even go tricker-treating inyet he also enjoys watching rated-r movies sometimes. He is so unpredictable. I just have to make sure that there is no sex unless it is nessesary to the plot same goes for violence. I mean people in the bible even had sex outside of marriage and went around killing people. I dunno, its a really delicate situation. But I guess I might as well start with Grave of the fireflies.

Spirited Away probably might not be a good choice, depending on your Dad, since it focuses a lot on magic and such. Grave of the Fireflies is really probably the best option.

Why don't you try talking to your parents about your intrest and tell them how much it would mean to you if they were supportive. I'm sure they're good parent so they should at least change a bit.

You could always ask him. Tell him you're trying to find a way to share one of your interests with him, but that you don't want him to over-react, and have an open-minded approach to it. But in your own words.

Then you should be able to ask how he views certain things, like magic, violence, etc.
