Do you love me too?

Any way, When I was relay young I saw "little Nimo" or something. I'm not sure it was anime or not but I liked it!
I just remembered. There was a bit of magic and then an Evil Demon Nightmare lord. But its a bout a young boy "Nimo" (I think it was Nimo) ho takes a trip into dreem land or something.
It was Probably Studio Ghibli's works. Studio Ghibli would be the bet way to go for finding something.

Whatever you do no, dark anime!
Especially with your dad's line of work. Grave of the Fireflies is good, but even if he starts to like anime NEVER let him see dark anime

Try Princess Mononoke. It has some blood and probobly one curse word in the whole movie. My mom even recommends it!

Hmmmm Princess Monoke has a lot of violence but very little harsh language.

Spirited away is an awesome anime movie that has some violence but nothing of the bloody sort and no harsh language I think I haven't watched it in awhile.

I thought of showing them some sort of show that they could get really into, but the problem is, is that my dad is a pastor and he accepts very little sexual content, cursing, and violence. I need to show my parents that anime is not some heathen thing and its not just cartoons either. Does anyone have any ideas about an anime I could get them to watch that is kinda tame with a good storyline?
Well you could try something in the line of shoujo. No wait those are usually some sort of love story.

Well the problem is that a story needs conflict. Thus Sex, Cursing and Violence are gonna be somewhere at least in a slight amount in anything.

Let's see if I have a suggestion.

The Nice Way:

You could talk to them about anime.

Try the fact that the Matrix is based off several anime to include Ghost in the Shell. Its a very philosophical movie.

Ghost in the Shell has blood and boobs, but it is one hell of a philosophical and in depth anime.

If you're parents have any confidence in their ability as parents and you as their child then what harm can animation do?

If faith is so weak that it can't be put to test and questioned, then it is just an illusion.

(Actually that statement is misleading. As faith is the actual belief. Religion is the rituals, ceremony, and patterns of worship attached to faith.)

My Way:

First, its your life not theirs.

Second, blast some AC/DC, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, and Marilyn Manson. Anime won't seem like an issue after that.

Don't be a pansy. Grow a back bone. ...We're not gonna take it...

Religion:

Well lots of terrible things happen in the bible. It wasn't written by God or Jesus. It contains a lot of horrid things fitting to the Dark Ages.

Jesus was a philosopher. He lived in poverty and promoted peace, love, and understanding :) . Sadly religion would corrupt faith and lead to persecution over a mere book time and time again.

As for them never having seen an anime. That's the persecution part. Ignorance and arrogance that combine to question others and never ourselves. (I mean look at all the paintings of Mary in Royal blue. She gave birth in a mainger?! Thats just the tip of the iceberg of inconsistancies.)

There are lots of terrible things in religion. I always found it ironic that the symbol for christianity is the instrument of murder for Christ. Kind of like using an AK47 as an anti-NRA symbol.

Halloween was originally a Native American belief. Jack-O-Lanterns were used to scare away evil spirits. This is a lot similar to gargoyles on ancient churches. Funny how a religion that takes a lot from the pagan ancient Greeks and Romans sometimes views things.

Yes Halloween is the devil's work. Why? Because thou shalt not dress like Spiderman and the Little Mermaid to get candy.

......Yes the devil needs candy.

maybe Mr. Badbar, or Snakers Bar, or 4 Horsemen with whipped chocolate.

I love the movie Little Nicky. Where he uses his evil powers to turn a Coke into a Pepsi.

Whatever you do, you're parents will get over it.

I've tried to show anime to my parents. My dad normally falls asleep when I try, but my mom doesn't mind it. Haibane Renmai went over well, and Ah My Goddess.

I would not recomend Grave of the Fireflies though. Yes it's good, but way too depressing. Save it to watch for when your feeling 'more than happy.'

And it wasn't the Aunt's fault at all. It was the guy's fault for being too proud and lazy to go get a job. The aunt set some simple rules, his cousin had no problem with them, but he chose to leave instead of following them. The girl died from malnutrition. And no, this isn't a spoiler, because they tell you it's going to happen during the first 5 minutes.

The sword at last must win,
Today is gone, and yesterday,
Must echo in the wind.
