Guyver was the first anime that really started me off when I was eight, there were lots of cartoons I used to watch when I was younger but I don't really count them seeing as I didn't know what they were at the time.
Hmm, about 15 years as well. 3 or 4 when I saw Astroboy, Silverhawks, Thundercats and the like. 21 now and still a fan. Hmm, that makes, 17-18 years.
Thundercats was an anime!?

I know as far as I can remember, I loved "pretty" animation. I always used to watch "the last unicorn" (not necessarily anime, but close...bought the dvd yesterday :) ) and "swan lake". I can still remember scenes from that movie and I'm dying to see it again (only because I havn't watched it since I was 7...and I'm curious)

But the one anime that really started it all, as stated by almost everyone else: Sailor Moon. I taped EVERY EPISODE.....and I could recite every line in the episode where sailor venus first appears....

Remember though, that was way back in the 5th grade, 7 years ago. *sighs* Those were the days...

I grew up with anime, although my 1st exposure was less than a glorious example of anime. My mom would record tapes we rented, and one fateful day we ended up renting a little cartoon called Warriors of the Wind. I loved the show. Still do. Up until 3 years ago, however, I had no idea the movie was actually a complete screw-up by New World of a classic Miyazaki film. I know I still have that recording lying around in my place somewhere.....

Other than that, I watched Macron 1 (Sengoku Majin Go-Shogun), and got into Dragon Ball when it was playing early mornings on UPN back in '96.

I thought it was, but I was wrong. It was made by a US company.

And, believe it or not, The Last Unicorn IS an anime.

Really? (No wonder I love it so much) I thought it was produced by an American company...(Alliance/FHE etc) There is a lot of Japanese names in the credits though - mainly associated with the animation. Do you know if there is a Japanese version available somewhere?

I'm no different from about 80% of the female animefan population, it was Sailor Moon for me, ages ago when I was in 5th Grade, I'd come home from school and watch it with my best friend around my house and we'd do the typical roleplaying and whatnot, being only 8 and 10 at the time ^^; this was the first Anime I ever watched... reason: they cancelled ThunderCats

Of course, then I got hooked
The very thing that I am trying to prove to not exist is the very thing holding me back...

I also remember going to watch the Cyborg 009 (?) film when it was aired in theaters... I must've been anywhere between 4-7 years old.
I like bugging people. Deal with it.
