Do you feel disrespected?
Once again, I've dissapeared for a month and came back out of no where, (and once again, no one really cares about me).
Do you feel that people, friends, and family disrespect you because you like amine? Me? My parents continuously... I think japan makes better tv shows in general. American has no good sense of humer too.

Disrespect? Nah. I might get an occasional dismissive comment of some sort, but not disrespect. That sort of thing shouldn't determine the amount of respect people for you. And if it does... well, I stay away from such people.
On second thought, I never really cared what people think about me, either

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I don't really care what people think of me of me either. But I'm often disrespected for more than that, and yet they expect/demand my respect. It really pisses me off.Otohiko wrote:Disrespect? Nah. This might sound silly to you, and something that your mother might repeat over and over, but; if you respect them even if they don't repect you, then they cannot truthfully say that you're disrepecting them. Therefore, you're basically heaping burning coals in their faces...by being respectful to them. If that made any sense what-so-ever?...
And, no, I would have to disagree with your viewpoint on American and Japanese TV shows. I guess that first you'd have to understand that different cultures, well...have different cultures. And that each culture would produce different products (in this case TV shows...could you call a TV show a product?hmm). I do agree that some US shows could be called inferior to some Japanese shows, but the same I can say for some Japanese shows as well. I really like what HeartBreaker said, is that: "If you do two horrible things, and one alright thing, people will hate you for the two horrible things." I don't think I got across to you about what I meant to say...I guess I'll leave it at that then.

what i tell people when they tell me, "why do you even like those cartoons?" i say (or at least think) "i have my personal preferences, you have yours. you may not like mine, or vise virsa, but i respect you all the same, so quit dissing me!" or something along those lines. it may not even be that polite sometimes, but those people who dont like me just cuz i watch anime dont have anything better to do than to pick on this poor otaku. oh well, if they still give me trouble, i just ignore it and be on my way. the best i can do unless i wanna be in trouble, heh.
anyway, the only people i hang around are people who either like anime or tolerate it. i only have one freidn who only tolerates it. he like my art, but isnt an anime fanatic like me. oh well.
i talk too much.....

To understand the otaku, you must be an otaku
