Also, don't expect to be the #1 video editor in the whole wide world on your first day. Appreciate that you can get people to watch it over time.

And if it doesn't hurt too much, consider enjoying the process and being happy that you made a good vid, and not considering it wasted effort if you don't get famous, okay?

But I second describing your video a little more. Also don't exaggerate - "best CB video ever!!!!" is going to build up expectations that no vid can live up to.

Well I was definitly not expecting it to be #1 the first day, especially since I'm a newbie at this. But yeah, I see what your saying and I really agree. Saying that it's the best would very much make people be very judgemental

One of the best things (I think) is just try to be involved with the community in a reasonable and perhaps even useful ways. Trade and offer opinions, respond to people's announcements, give opinion on issues in threads and participates in activities like challenges, projects, and such.

Well, it's not a direct way to popularity, but I believe doing some things like that gains you exposure and credit, if not some respect.

Anyway, I don't think my own videos would get a fraction of the attention they do were it not for the fact that I'm trying to be active, useful and friendly within the community (with variable success, of course)
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I second this, and is the very thing I did when I came here. My first vid got No response at all when I posted it. (I was totally new) My second vid, got 2 responses, (I still wasn;t posting much then) Even though now after Got active in the comiunuty and people know me more, people have had good things to say about both of those aforementioned vids. THen I created and Posted AR and got lots of response. I think people who know you at least a little, and have some respect for you, will check out your AMV even if they wouldn't be interested in it otherwise. I am like that to an extent. SOme people, I automatically download from since I know them somewhat from their forum presence.

Especially the respond to others topics and such. That way you don't apear to want something for nothing so to speak. You gotta give to get basically.

This is the first time I remember seeing the suggestion forum used like this.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

I've seen it a few times before ^_^

I have yet to know if it was actually ment to be used in this way, but mods never moved/locked the threads I remember seeing.

The problem is, I've been working on it for about 6 months and put a lot of work into it and now I want to show it off, but I've realized that this site is so big and so cluttered with music videos that it's hard to get noticed. So now I really want to make an effort to get people to notice it. Does anybody have any suggestions for me to get my video out there and somwhat recognized?
Just my $.02...I started cranking out AMVs about 3 weeks ago and now have 4.5 (one short remake for a special project). It looks like my videos fall into the middle ground...not the kind to make people stop and go "oooooo!" but not too crappy either. My star ratings are consistant '3's. My 3rd video received a couple of crappy reviews and made me wonder if it was worth continuing. I dropped back and relied on my friends who were my primary audience to begin with. They enjoyed them and that is all that really matters to me. Not every video is going to appeal to everyone else. The kicker to getting your vid noticed is to make it available, on the local level if not also hosted on your own. Once it is listed and available to see, those that are either interested in your anime or song will look it up. I just downloaded a bunch of videos in a contest to judge and realized that these were not the things that appealed to me and I was not qualified to be a judge of these types of videos. Go with what you like and the heck with everyone elses opinion. (Unless you feel they are constructive. Too many reviews are the 'liked it/didn't like it' without explaing why.)
