I personally plan on tring one of each, a trailer trailer and an original. Maybe I won't call the original a 'trailer,' if thats the general consensus.kitsunebeolnet wrote:I gotta agree here. I would say that an original trailer could still be called a trailer if it was in the style of a theatrical trailer. Trailers have a lot of conventions that differ significantly from AMV's, one example would be original audio. I can't remember the last time I saw a trailer that didn't have at least a few lines of diolouge from the movie, a few choice jokes in the case of a comedy for example.coffee54 wrote:I personally plan on tring one of each, a trailer trailer and an original. Other possibilities include fancy and dramatic titles, preview screen and info screen at the end that's always too damn small to read anyways. If you have enough of this sort of thing so that it is very clear what you are trying to do, then by all means call it a trailer.
What do you guys think?

I could go along with that one if the video actually looked like it was done up like a movie trailer, even if it is 'advertising' the anime involved. Bonus points if it is funny. 8)pen-pen2002 wrote:I would say that an original trailer could still be called a trailer if it was in the style of a theatrical trailer. Not to self pimp but it fits the topic so.

I've been told that's ok, and it was my first attempt at making a "real" trailer, the audio is original, mixed from a Trans Syberian song and the vocal bits from the "Movie".
It doenst look professional at all unless maybe say the video itself (the bumpers don't look too professional), But it was my first time, my next one is looking much better.
Just see what I mean though, it's possible to do an original one.

I was simply aluding to the fact that originality takes effort. Using this principle, I was gently poking fun at the community, tis all. But, I do see your point. Although the Hellsing trailer on the top 10% in the horror catagory (not sure if it's still up there) was excellent.kitsunebeolnet wrote:I gotta agree here. Sometimes original trailers are more than just music. Take into account how actual movie trailers are made; they take different songs, different lines from the movie and possibly catchphrases of the movie typed out (e.g. "This summer, evil, will battle, evil" for Freddy vs Jason). It takes a bit more concentration and planning than one would think.kitsunebeolnet wrote:I gotta agree here. I think it's just that you've been exposed to too many videos who are short and have the title at the end.
