Honestly, though...

The internet is a medium relying (almost) solely on visual input. There are no audible clues, or body language to convey meaning. Therefore, there must be a single, unifying key to promote understanding.

That key is... grammar. There is no excuse for poor spelling, lack of puncuation, or lazy syntax errors. It causes people to not understand or misunderstand what you are saying (er... typing).

"L33t" speak, shortcuts (i.e. "u" for "you", "ppl" for "people"), and unusual formating should be used like oregeno... very sparingly. They have their place as humor or emphasis, but not a language unto themsleves.

You will find that people will react more positively to your threads and be generally more congenial if you follow the basic rules of the language. :D

I am a writer, foremost.

Ergo, I have little patience with people who blatently and intentionally butcher the language. I have a tendency to ignore posts out of hand that are poorly written, just to save my blood pressure  .

I doubt I am alone in this.

However, some of these people have a valid point in their posts. But their horrendous writing keeps me from reading it. A little thought before you type, and perhaps a visit from Mr. Preview Button would help.
