If you're referring to "Cappa Mikey" it's actually supposed to be a parody of people who make and perform in Japanese animation...at least that's how it came off from the synopsis.

It's as simple as this - (though I'm sure I'm the 90th person in this thread to say so)

- Animated programs such as TV Shows, movies, and direct to video releases, which are created by Japanese people for the consumption of the Japanese populace is anime.

Further information: Anime is Japanese. In anime's country of orign (Japan) "anime" is *any* animation. However, this definition is not applicable in America and similar countries, because the word "anime" has become an English term, used to signify the type of program I noted above. Although not all animation is anime, it is impossible for someone to claim something is not anime simply because they don't like it or it doesn't contain some kind of content.

Anyone who says "Sailormoon is gay, it's not anime" or anything in that line is simply a freaking dumbass idiot who doesn't understand the term 'anime'. Many people do it, though I personally don't comprehend why to the extent that I would like.

But to say one more thing - shows which are influenced by anime or are in anime style aren't anime if they aren't Japanese.

Anime is "cartoons" sent from Japan using superior drawing methods, That conquers that of any other, It's more realistic and enjoyable so that's why many of us can relate. Furthermore that's why the U.S. is adopting the style of art.

Sweatdrops, cat's teeth on females, pulling magical hammers out of pockets and slamming them down on someone, and big shiny eyes are realistic... yeah

Western animation and Japanese animation each can be real or fake as they want to be. It just depends on the target audience. Anime in Japan has a very wide range of audiences. They got shows for little children and they got the shows for the adults. Out here in the states, there ARE some animated programs for the older generation. ie Spawn, Family Guy, Southpark, Heavy Metal, Wizards, or even Cool World if you wanna count that.

In conclusion: You can't really define anime, but you can SHOW anime

No, it's very easy to define anime. Japanese animation, there you go.

As for realism. Sure there are plenty of completely off the wall anime, but there are more realisticly done anime than there are realisticly done cartoons. Shows like Family Guy aren't aimed at kids, but they're still off the wall.
