Downloading question.

My pardon if this has been asked before... I know that you have to be a member for a least two weeks before you can use local downloads. I have been a member for more than two weeks and the local downloads are not working for me.

It's giving me this error message: "You are attempting to download this video too soon after your last download attempt."

Even though I hadn't attempted any prior downloads today...

I'm using Mozilla Firefox. Does anyone know what's wrong?

This question comes up quite often, though I'm not really sure why. If you read the full page, it says you simply must wait 60 seconds in between download attempts.

When you are on the page with the local video you wanna download, just left-click on the link and wait a few seconds. A download window should pop up. If not, there should be a link you can click to start the download automatically. But you must wait 60 seconds before doing this.

I tried to access it several times... waiting 60 seconds before each. It gives me the same message.

Yeah, this is a common problem with IE users. Try clearing your cookies.

Log out and close your internet page. Right-click your IE icon and go to 'properties.' Click 'clear cookies,' click 'delete files,' click 'settings' and 'view files' and manually delete the org cookies that remain (if any do). Open a new internet page and log back in - try the download again.

If that doesn't fix the problem, you might want to try a different browser - Opera ( www.opera.com ) is nice for resuming local downloads if you're on a slow connection.

I wasn't using IE at the time actually, I was using Firefox.

I downloaded Opera (my, it is a nifty little browser, isn't it? I'm still debating whether or not to keep it on the comp, I'm a bit Mozilla-biased.

) and tried again. But I seem to get the exact same message despite waiting 60 seconds before attempting again as I supposed to. It does this with any browser I use, even after I turn off cookies.

*sighs*

Odd, I've never used Firefox, but I thought it was supposed to be perfect (at least when it comes to typical IE bugs).

Do you by chance have a download accelerator on your comp? If you have anything like DAP, turn it off or disable it completely. Or are you behind a firewall? o.O

Oh, it is... I've been using Mozilla browsers for while. Even Opera can't convince me to switch.

No firewall here... We have one at the college I'm at during the school year, but I'm on the home comp now.

As for download accelerator... ah. That might be it. We use an "accelerated" dial-up connection. (Connection that accelerates the speed by compression graphics)

Maybe that's what's causing the problem...

Well turns out the "accelerated" dial-up was causing the trouble. I tinkered with the settings and figured out how to shut the acceleration off and still remain connected. Now the local downloads work like a charm! *wipes brow*

Thanks to everyone to responded... you helped me troubeshoot and narrow down the problem. Sorry for being such a pain.

how do u find out if u have an accelarotor and how would u turn it off (srry, im pc dumb but have the same problem)
