For Amusement factor, I'd say Alice Cooper's "We're All Clones Now." Wish i had the lyrics for that.

On a serious note? That's a bit harder, but you want something that's slightly off kilter, if only to demonstrate that she doesn't really relate to anything that well. Good example is "Sunny Came Home" from Shawn Colvin. The words and the music don't match. Wonderful, and beautiful music, but some rather disturbing lyrics, if you listen to them

behind blue eyes by limp bizkit? here's an instant title: Behind Red Eyes.
I'm brazillian, there's a brazillian song that fits well its called "olhos vermelhos" which translates directly to "red eyes". in case u want to find it, the band is Capital Inicial. good luck

or u can try evanescence "my immortal" for a rei-shinji tribute (as long as u don't suggest a romantic relationship between them or i will hunt u down and sacrifice u to my pagan gods)
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

I plan on doing an Eva video with "Gollum's Song" however, I put it off since I want to use the upcoming Platinum Eva DVDs for superior footage quality. I never thought of doing a character profile of Rei, though. Its a great idea and someone should do it. If not I will do it ^_^!

I have not seen the Platinum DVDs of NGE. Only the last two series of the Director's Cut. I hope I see those DVDs soon. I will absolutely want to make a Rei AMV once I find them (and once I get my damn Premiere Pro to work!). I have not been able to hear the song options yet but I would like to hear more song ideas. This just might the idea that can be widely interested.

I think i've found the ultimate Rei (and Shinji, atleast the interaction between them) song:
Stinkfist by Tool.
There is already an NGE video logged to it, but there is no vid.

anyway, here are the lyrics, and those really fit, you just have to see what i mean, and the song is nice and weird too, just like NGE.

Dreaming of that face again.
It's bright and blue and shimmering.
Grinning wide
And comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes.
On my back and tumbling
Down that hole and back again
Rising up
And wiping the webs and the dew from my withered eye.

In... Out... In... Out... In... Out...

A child's rhyme stuck in my head.
It said that life is but a dream.
I've spent so many years in question
to find I've known this all along.

"So good to see you.
I've missed you so much.
So glad it's over.
I've missed you so much
Came out to watch you play.
Why are you running?"

Shroud-ing all the ground around me
Is this holy crow above me.
Black as holes within a memory
And blue as our new second sun.
I stick my hand into his shadow
To pull the pieces from the sand.
Which I attempt to reassemble
To see just who I might have been.
I do not recognize the vessel,
But the eyes seem so familiar.
Like phosphorescent desert buttons
Singing one familiar song...

"So good to see you.
I've missed you so much.
So glad it's over.
I've missed you so much.
Came out to watch you play.
Why are you running away?"

Prying open my third eye.
So good to see you once again.
I thought that you were hiding.
And you thought that I had run away.
Chasing the tail of dogma.
I opened my eye and there we were.

So good to see you once again
I thought that you were hiding from me.
And you thought that I had run away.
Chasing a trail of smoke and reason.

Prying open my third eye.

Just for quick info the first Platinum DVD comes out July 27th, Tues. Just next week ^_^! And the second DVD comes out on September 21. Not exactly sure how many episodes are on the DVDs, but there will be 7 total DVDs. My guess is there will be 4 on each disc and only 2 on the last disc; making a total of 26 episodes. The only thing I'm concerned is how long it will take for all 7 discs to come out. That doesn't even include Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion. The tension its getting to me

Do you realize how f****n expensive those DVDs are gonna be? If a whole package of old NGE DVDs cost at least $160, who knows how expensive these Platinum DVDs are gonna be?

Anyway while we wait for the every volume to come out, what other songs could be compatible for Rei Ayanami? I believe she comes off as empty. With no feelings whatsoever until at some point shines a light.

I guess that leaves me to come up with the Rei video for "Suite Madame Blue". Oh well...

Then again, I did get a laugh out of noticing someone here attributing "Behind Blue Eyes" to the Bizkit.

That song was written by the who?

Oh, yeah, it was written by The Who.

In all fairness to Limp Bizkit, I did like the cover - though I'm not so sure about cutting out the guitar solo from the original. Naw, sometimes I get the impression that the only people who like instrumental solos are other people who play the same instrument. This applies especially to drums (...says someone currently listening to the full version of Iron Butterfly's "In a Gadda da Vida").

Of course, it does also seem a bit odd that Limp seemed to go out of their way to say "Faith" was originally by George Michael, and that Fred got "Wish You Were Here" from Pink Floyd, while the only mention I saw of The Who concerning Limp Bizkit's version of "Behind Blue Eyes" was in a news article about the cover. Well, they were probably in the liner notes - but part of the point of using old songs like that is to give your audience the impression that you have some sense of your genre's musical "roots", and - by extension - provide a little advertising for some really good albums that no longer have the massive financial power of the RIAA being poured into their promotion.
may seeds of dreams fall from my hands -
and by yours be pressed into the ground.
