The Seven Samurai is to A bug's life
Yeah....so I was really bored the other day and sat down to watch another episode of "Samurai 7" that new anime thats like a futuristic version of the Seven Samurai, and I came to this crazy realization about how the Disney Pixar movie "A Bug's Life" is exactly the same as the Seven Samurai.
Think about it, these peasants, portrayed by ants, are harvesting their food to provide for the bandits, grasshoppers, and are fed up with it, so they go to the big city to get warriors to come and fight off the bandits. Of course there is the whole side story to make it appealing to little kids, but the basic premise is there.
Oh well I won't rant anymore just wanted to say that since no one was online whos seen it that I know and I needed to tell someone that.

Just like Troy is Homer's The Illiad.
I've made nerdier connections between things than this, so don't worry about it, BrahRizor. There are really only about 21 different plots in the whole world, and every story falls into one of those categories, so, well, I don't really know what I'm trying to say.
Damn, because I think it was about to sound good or something.
...Oh, well...

Although the movie studio edited all the good part from the original Illiad. Like the meddling of the gods in the war, up to the point that there was a war waged on Earth and another one in heaven.EvaXephon wrote:Just like Troy is Homer's The Illiad.

Homer was cool...
I don't know about samurai 7 but I saw the movie the seven samurai when i was a little kid but i still remember it. It was a good movie for that period. The western reproduction of the original samurai movie (i never remember the correct name) I also found that good especially for the actors that starred... like Yul Bryner, Charles Bronson, ..., the others.

The Original movie was by Akira Kurosawa and is a classic.
The Hollywood remake was "The Magnificent Seven"
A scifi version was also made called "Battle Beyond The Stars" with Richard Thomas who used to be John Boy Walton.
And "A Bugs Life" was also based on the same story.
And now a retelling of the same story as a anime.
Good storys tend to get around.

I believe there's a Seven Samurai video game as well... it has bad rappers who are also roller bladers with haircuts which would fit right in in a Final Fantasy game. I'm not making this up! See?
I saw a review on TV. Apparently it's not a very good game and they said it would make Akira Kurosawa turn in his grave (as in it's not faithful to the move at all).

[MOD: As awesome as Seven Samurai might be, right now this thread has nothing to do with anime, so I'm locking it]
