When you create videos commercially, you have to meet the demands of the people who hired you. You're not editing for yourself anymore, so therefore what you think should be done is second to what your boss think should be done. That's why I think it would be difficult for most of the people here to edit commercially.

No, I'd just edit it.HurQlez03 wrote:Here is an question I have been brewing up. If an AMV creator was given the chance to direct a real Music Video for an artist, would he want to use the elements he used to make an AMV? quick scene changes, CGI effects, all that stuff.
Directing is fun, but apparently I suck at it...

Thats totally true, when working with AMV's you have 100% control on what you want to do. When working commerically you do pretty much what your client or boss wants you to do no matter how bad you think the idea is.Jasper-Isis wrote:When you create videos commercially, you have to meet the demands of the people who hired you. Yeah, but I like editing. I'd rather do what my boss says to do on an editor than fire the current editor and do both jobs myself. =\
Besides, when I direct, the end result comes out as craaaaap.

I love directing, and my few experiences with it have been pretty well recived (Gundam: The Lego Saga & Beautiful Summer).
I think I'm better when I'm more free with what I can do than keeping my hands tied with "conventions".
Then again >> My drama videos are easily my most popular =o so... It's all in how you look at things I suppose .
I'd like to see some of your directing work though.

For me it wouldn't matter
AMV, MV, GMV (game music video), etc I try to do whatever I feel like doing, there is no comparison to amount of attension/approach I would give a project I give everything the same attension. However it maybe if I ever was asked to do a music video, like if AC/DC came up to be and asked if I could direct/edit their music video. I don't know about anyone else but if my favorite band asked me to direct/edit their next music video I would give it my aboslute full attension to try and do a good job.

Ugh... It's on a tape now to be used as "How NOT to direct" at Walton High School for it's Mass Media class... Hr...Voices_Of_Ryan wrote:SQ wrote:Yeah, but I like editing. I'd rather do what my boss says to do on an editor than fire the current editor and do both jobs myself. =\
