well i mean, by saying that every AMV only takes a few hours is kinda misleading....

she could have said: from a few hours to a few weeks...depending on how much time and effort put into each AMV

that would have been a more politically correct statement

yes, let's pick apart someone's article on editing that isn't even part of our site. an article that sounds like it will inspire someone to make a crappy dbz video and at least have fun, rather than spend 8 grueling months to read how ever many dozen pages of AD&E's semi-technical guide in order and make the next con-winning video.

seriously, it's a hobby. she doesn't have the guidelines to the perfect video, but it gets the quick and basic point across to people who've never seen amvs and don't know how to start. brad demoss tried not to spend more than 20 hours on any of his videos.

i can understand giving her advice on better techniques, but what's up with going through everything that's not perfect in her article?

Question: Imagine you're a total newbie to editing, which is what her guide seems to be designed for. Now tell me, was there a single thing she said that actually would help you even achieve the level of 'crappy dbz video'? Her guide reads like my videos look, a worthless waste of time that has no point at all and isn't useful or enjoyable by anyone who's at least semi-sane.

bleeding heart

i know what you are saying...

but there is nothing wrong with pointing them to a few more guides, and adding on additional information in case they DO want to spend weeks upon weeks on a video and become the winner of otakon or something...

there should just be more information

Agreed...if someone just wants to make DBZ/LP vids for fun, let them. There is no law that says AMV's must be created solely for the purpose of "getting respect". Let the beginners have their fun, I didn't see anything wrong with this woman's article outside of it being very basic.
