1. click on Profile at the very top of the screen. [shows up when you're only in the forum area.]
2. scroll down until you see "Avatar control panel"...and then upload something that fits the exceptions from your computer...

...haha...don't worry...I'm new too and I was like that a couple of hours ago TOO...

One problem every avartar I've gat has been saved as BITMAP is there any way to change that?

Yes, but bitmaps and gifs are best for making avatars due to the size of the files. You do lose a little quality though.

oh that's really easy...just change the extension to a 'Jpg' or 'jpeg' or 'gif', etc. and click "OK" when the warning box pops up...voila.

Yes, but <b>bitmaps and gifs</b> are best for making avatars due to the size of the files. You do lose a little quality though.

If by "bitmaps" you mean "JPEGs", then yes. Bitmaps are uncompressed, and therefore make very large files (relatively), and therefore are bad for online use.

To be even more specific: GIFs are better for images with not many colors, or large areas of mostly flat colors, and of course they're the only option for animated graphics; JPEGs are better for things like photographs.

Okay one more queastion and I'll leave u guys alone.How do I shange the file typ?I there some place on the computer togo change it?I've tried going to properties to change it but it wont let me.The piece of crap!

Try this.

Open up MS Paint. Then open the file you want to convert. Then click Save as. When it brings up the save window give it a name and then choose a file type from the "Save as type" box right below the name box.

You should then be able to save your pic as a gif or a jpeg.
