There is a large VAT room where all the action happens in terms of amvs. Hanging out there or near there will result in meeting tons of AMV creators so it's hard to not meet up and easy to make plans to go to gatherings, etc....

Okay, the Saturday Gathering:

It looks like a Saturday lunch is a welcomed idea so let me ask would you like to leave the con to go out for lunch or would you rather eat at the hotel/convention center and do a picnic? Going out has more potential for fun and gets people without cars away from the con for a while (which may or may not be desirable). Staying in means our gathering won't eat up (sorry, bad pun) as much time since we aren't traveling so there will be that much more time to do AWA stuff.

I don't know how easily we could do a Friday gathering. A lot of people still aren't showing up till late afternoon/evening that day and if I remember right the AMV Dance Challenge is that night and I'm most everyone here wants to be there. As Vlad said the VAT room is a great 24 hour meeting place for spontaneous gatherings (I plan to live there myself barring a few other con activities). A Sunday gathering would also depend on when everyone was leaving town. Let's get a Saturday plan down then we'll work on the others. After all, we still have 20 days till AWA (which is probably just enough time to plan things out :P).

And now that there is a saturday gathering another problem has occured for me. My girlfriend wants to go to Yaoicon and since I don't get to see her much as is due to college I'm going to take her so I can be with her. So there goes my money for AWA, so have fun guys and update me on it allright?

How about Friday afternoon? I know I'll want to get some sort of meal at some point before the night's festivities, and there'll be people arriving Friday morning/afternoon.

There's a good sized mall 8 miles (maybe a 15 minute drive given traffic) from AWA. The food court there could make for a good lunch spot.

You talking about Southlake?? Southlake or not, malls have a great variety of food and space. The only thing is catching it at a non-busy hour because it CAN get crowded at times - especially when the world gets hungry around noonish.

On another note, I remember last year, I got to the hotel early and nothing pretty much was going on until noon or one, so how about an early lunch for Friday? Saturday is a possibility as well. And for those who don't care or want the closest thing....... I haven't eaten at Ruby's in two years.

Yeah, Southlake. Shannon is in the area too but when you have a mall who's lost two of their four anchor stores you get bad selection on everything else. The other problem (other than the crowds) is that a lot of the cars we're using for Thursday night are local and I don't know how many of them will be available during a work day. Technically I'm working that day too but I'm thinking about making other arrangements :D Maybe we should just gather at the VAT room or something at a set time on Friday and decide from there?

As for Ruby Tuesday, if you go to the one near the hotel you'll be waiting another two years to eat there, especially on Saturday :P

after reading all the info from the link in your sig red wolf it sounds like it will be great. Though i don't exactly call myself AMV creator yet (my stuff sux major ass) it would still be great to talk to some of you guys and gals face to face ^_^

AWA will be my first Convention. And hopefully i won't be marred by my experience to where i am afraid to go outside or trust anyone =P
