27 second intro...too long?

Well, my second video's intro was 15 seconds. (Only white text on a black background so it did take up much space.) A couple of people told me that it should have been shorter (and I agree).
Toushi's intro is 16 seconds long and it is currently the second highest rated video on this site.
Rozard's video intro in Price to Fly is a minute and 4 seconds long and yet it has received good marks also. (I don't know how many complaints the intro has caused though...)
And the Hypeo brothers use long intros and outros in all of their videos. Most of them are pretty good. As they put it, it is a good way to put the viewer in the correct mood and to take them out of it.
Basically, as long as the video and intro are good, most people won't complain.
Personally I say keep it short and sweet.

dude its not like my amv is 30 seconds long i mean sure its a 27 second intro but its a 3:30 second (at least) amv i mean the intro only takes up 1/8 of the actual time in the whole video....and fyi I DONT HAVE AN OUTRO!jbone wrote:No, I just want to see the video and the name of its edior.MomochiZabuza wrote:wouldnt you rather have lets just say "mini-amv" playing before the actual thing,
Imagine if the movie "Spider Man 2" was an hour of credits, followed by 25 minutes of Spidey beating up Doc Oc, followed by another hour-long credit sequence.

I wouldn't call it that huge. I was on 56K only last year, and 5 MB usually took about 15 minutes to a half hour. No biggie.jbone wrote:5MB is UNBELIEVABLY FREAKING HUGE to someone on dial-up.MomochiZabuza wrote:i forgot to say this last time but the intro may be 27 seconds but its freakin 5 mb....its not THAT big
Have you ever accessed the Internet via a dial-up connection?

honestly, why are you being so defensive? You posted this topic and asked for opinions, people gave them to you. No offense [REALLY! I'm not trying to start something here ] but it seems like you're just getting annoyed because some people are giving you answers you don't want to hear.
This is public opinion...you could even consider it the way people are going to receive your video. If the majority doesn't like long intros, then what's to argue? If you really think your intro is worth it, then keep it in at your own risk. It's that simple...
But the bottomline is: many people [although some don't mind] are advising you to shorten this long intro [everyone for their own reason]...what's so bad about keeping an open mind?

its because some people walked (well i guess clicked) their way into the forum with the idea that 27 seconds and 5 mb must be secret code for 1 hour and 100000000mbkrzT321 wrote:honestly, why are you being so defensive? I say incorporate your bumpers or titles into the video itself, if possible.
Instead of cutting off a 30-60 second lead-in to a song, use it as your intro. I thought Taskmasta's Anxiety pulled this off well, although I didn't much care for his outro. I've used this technique before also in The Definition of Trust and Some Ships.
I'm not a big fan of disruptive tangential 30 second bumpers at the front of videos.

Well, that's because the actual video is 1:49 I figured I'd give the people something a little extra, since most AMVs are around 3:30 anyhow. Plus, I wanted to prove DevolutionEX wrongCorran wrote:Rozard's video intro in Price to Fly is a minute and 4 seconds long and yet it has received good marks also.
