  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Confusing subject huh? I tried to make it look and feel more like what we'd see in a theatrical trailer. It's not quite done yet, as you can see I sitll have a few things to learn about compression, but I feel it's good enough to post here as per a friend's request.

P.S. Can anyone help me with compressing? Do I need to deinterlace this with 2 more passes? /me confused

P.P.S. I'd just like to say that other than a few timing issues this IS done, realized that it not being done might deter people from downloading it when they read the topic. I know I would, lol.

Re-uploaded fixed all deinterlacing issues, it's staggeringly good quality, could someone please leave an opinion? You'd think I could get a little feedback here.

It wasn't bad. Some of the clip selection and placement was kinda odd after the beginning, but it wasn't that bad. Some sections could've been timed a bit better and the aspect ratio was off. (The original clip had an almost 16/9 ratio dimension with 640x368 pixels, but you went even farther shorter with the height.)

Thanks for the reply finally, :)

I know it's not bad, I was just using that as a ploy to get SOMEone to respond,

Just curious, do you have any suggestions as to the sections that could have been timed better? And is your problem with that aspect ratio the black bars on top? (I'm unsure as to how I can fix that in virtualdub, if you could help that'd be great.) I squished the text a tiny bit on purpose in the beginning, this might have increased your impression of that, so just be aware of that if you look at it again, :)

You should try using AVISynth for using source footage, even when you're using D/led footage (Try not to though). The script should read something like this:

AVISource("File Location\File Name.avi")
AddBorders(0,56,0,56)
KillAudio

Although, this is assuming that you're using the E3 trailer which is available for d/l at a 640x368 resolution and not a different resolution. (Seeing as you're using an un-interlaced .avi, you don't need to use Telecide, Decimate or AssumeFPS)

Again, I'd rather you not use downloaded footage.

The video is made up of two seperate sources, 1. The E3 trailer off of the E3Access DVD made by Gamespy, etc. 2. The Japanese trailer that was downloaded, which I cannot find non-divx encoded.

Once I had fully tweaked the video, I ran the AVS script through VirtualDub, telecide and decimate in it, and fooled with the cropping a bit. They are two seperate videos from two seperate sources, as such, they have different aspect ratios, the dled one being the weirder one. That's why it changes. In the end, is it really that distracting? Quality wise it's fine correct? Does it really matter if the border moves half a centimeter every now and then? If it does to you guys, then I'll definitely change it and re-export the original movie into Vegas with the better letterbox settings, and re-compress in Virtualdub.

Thanks for your time... what did you think of the actual content itself? I've shown it to a couple of fans of the movie who think it looked like a real trailer. Am I naive in believing them?
