- Videos should either have a framerate of 23.976fps or 23.98fps.
Are you sure that's a wise idea?

This puts a heap of trouble on creators with NTSC footage which is at 29.97fps. Deinterlacing video footage is a LOT of trouble and is by no means easy to do, and it'll look like shit if it's not done just right. It pretty much requires deinterlacing the footage before editing it, which is even more trouble, and if one field is off or if the interlaced field order is something non-standard, it'll wreak havoc right there.

..That is, unless there's something new out there that I've completely missed lately that makes deinterlacing a finished AMV a lot easier (I don't spend as much time in here as I should). All my deinterlacing attempts in the past have been spectacular disasters.

I've come across VERY few anime in the past that are actually 29.97fps natively. Either way, it will have to be converted to 23.976 at some point, and I'd prefer it be done by the creator than by me (I'm lazy).

I should also add that all my attempts at using AVISynth have not been successful either. All those damned scripts are confusing as hell.

Here's the AVS scripts you need if all you're doing is interlacing:

For NTSC footage,

MPEG2Source("C:\projects\projectname.d2v")
Telecide()
Decimate(5)

For PAL footage:

MPEG2Source("C:\projects\projectname.d2v")
Telecide()
Decimate(mode=1)

An explanation of what it is, and an explanation of how to do it. Just take it slowly one step at a time; trying to take the entire process as a whole is what stopped me from doing this earlier than I wish I had. :)

If I missed anything, don't hesitate to correct me.

It's deinterlacing I'm worried about. Don't need to worry about interlacing.
