Anime Needed to set to a Theme(Plese Help)
I think I finally found the song that I want to do my video to. It is "Anthem of our day", by Story of the Year.
The lyrics go,
The stars will cry, the blackest tears tonight.
And this is the moment that I live for, I can smell
the ocean air. And here I am, pouring my hear onto
these roof tops. Just a ghost to the world,
thats exactly, exactly what i need.
From up here, the city lights burn like a thousand
miles of fire. And I'm here to sing this anthem of our
dying day.
For a second i wish the tide, would swallow every inch of this city
as you gasp for air tonight. I'd scream this song, right in your face
if you were here. Still I wouln't miss a beat, cause I never have before.
I can interpret the song in two ways:
Its a person, and he/she is angry at the world because of some event. and hes about to kill himself on the roof of a building looking at the lights like fire, he just wishes that the tide would swallow his town and everyone in it as they gasp for air.
Or
its a person protecting an ideal, and hes signing the anthem of his/her dying beliefs.
however i think the former is more accurate. That is harder to set to anime....
Im hoping to be able to make this very dramatic, while at the same time having a portion of action to it. Action in the sense of passionate battle or something like that. They do it alot in dragon ball z and naruto and stuff like that, something fuels their passion to help them win.
Its a tuff one to set to anime, but im hoping you guys can give me some suggestions. Thanks.

Well my interpretation is not akin to yours; but never mind that now.
The video doesn’t have to be action based even though the song is of the rock genre. I think you could make this into one of the angsty, "bizarre", sad videos.
For the weird-sad-surreal clips use Lain.
For the action clips you can use the Ina Yasha fight scenes.
For drama Furuba (Furutsu Basuketo aka Fruits Basket) has some very deep scenes and the expressions (of the characters) in them are very genuine.
Other’s good for drama and/or fight clips:
Yami no Matsuei
Sailor Moon (yes I’m not kidding, it has some drama)
Cowboy Bebop
Dirty Pair
Escaflowne
Excel Saga (the anime itself is a parody but some episodes fit)
Full Metal Panic
Gundam Series
Outlaw Star
Pilot Candidate
Ruroni Kenshin
X
Gravitation
Cardcaptor Sakura
Fushigi Yuugi
Kare Kano
Utena
Metropolis
Hellsing
Noir
Memories
Think that list is long already so that’s all.

Id love to hear your interpretation. I think interpretation is important because i believe that the music videos could express what the artist is trying to express only through video. Ya know? Also, Id like to keep it to 1 anime. Ill take a look at my outlaw star and see what i can do, but keep those recommendations comming! yea!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Err, I'll give you my interpretation later since I don't have the time now.
Nevertheless I do thing the "one anime" rules is actually limiting; to your imagination and your changes to make a great AMV.
I'm off then.

I feel you, Story of the year sometimes have lyrics that are hard to interpret.
I had this problem with my latest released video, Swallow (in my sig if you want to check out how I dealed with it, But:
I think their lyrics are ambigous enough that you could go with any of these interpretations and make it work though. THats one of the good things about their songs. One other interpretation I thought could be about a relationship thats ending maybe.

That pretty much sums up how I dealt with it ;pKajino Rei wrote: The video doesn’t have to be action based even though the song is of the rock genre. I think you could make this into one of the angsty, "bizarre", sad videos.
