hmmm
lets see....from my experience...
Good:
-Wolfs Rain
-Excel Saga
-Cowboy Bebop
-sCRYed
-Trigun
-RahXephon
Not Sure:
-Ai Yori Aoshi
(never watched it in english...for some reason sappy romances are just so much better in japenese with subtitles)
-Evangelion
(If you ever watched the commentary on the EoE disc, you know the actors tried hard, but still some of the voices really got on my nerves.....maybe that was the point)
-Azumanga Daioh
(I love some of the voices of the girls and teachers, but sometimes its kinda weird)
--There are some more, i just dont want to go dig through my anime to try and remember--
Bad:
-Zero Wing anyone? mmmm Zig
-Love Hina
-Someday's Dreamers
(these 2 really got on my nerves. I know that when you have a japanese girl from Osaka or from the "country" per say. I know that to the japanese they have a different accent than those who live in Tokyo.... HOWEVER.....this does not mean that you should hire a voice actor that resembles an AMERICAN country voice. I can't stand listening to an anime character talk like that, and I was born in GA! I suppose its kinda the same in Azumanga, however, thats different cause Osaka, well, yeah)
--Others as well just cant think now, its early--

As a matter of habit I automatically turn on subs so it's rare I actually hear the dub. The only time is when my wife is feeling to tired to read. Most dubs I have seen are ok, it's generally obvious the characters weren't originally speaking english but it's not really a distraction. I have only run into two exceptions to this.
Azumanga Daioh really sucked. Whoever cast Chiyo-chans voice should be fired. Whoever decided an entire cast of high school students should sound like adults should be beaten. Whoever decided to give Osaka that accent should be killed.
The other was Princess Mononoke. The dubbing was ok but I never got past that little voice in my head saying 'That's Claire Danes. And that's the bimbo from X-Files. And that's...' The voice talent was just to distinctively themselves for me to forget it and accept them as the character.

Whaaaaaaaaat? I like the Azumanga dub. Also, I remember someone disliking the sCRYed dub. That's another good one. Two more I liked that someone didn't was Fruits Basket and Full Metal Panic.
Did anyone else like the Noir dub? It wasn't superb, but I thought it was done fairly well. The Get Backers dub sucks, and I didn't really like the Escaflowne dub at all. A great one that people forget is Golden Boy. Well, at least Doug Smith's part as Kintaro.

The dubbing that gave Funimation a bad reputation and people still love it. Anyhoo, I'll shut up about it now.

Kind of ironic since, if memory serves, Funimation didn't actually take over until after the Ginyu arc...memory serves Saiyan Saga was dubbed by... ...I want to say it was Saban, but I could be wrong.someperson wrote:Heero_Yuy84 wrote:The dubbing that gave Funimation a bad reputation and people still love it. Hell, Funi's actually expressed interest in going back and redubbing it with the clipped out stuff restored, right now it's just a matter of waiting for the license on those episodes to expire

I seriously have to agree with you on that series. Well, also consider that OVA series is one of Pioneer's really early releases.
