Let's take another look at it, then, shall we?
<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... Interlaced editing vs. progressive editing</a>
<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... >Restoring progressive frames</a> (if you want to edit progressive)
<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... nterlacing or IVTC after editing</a> (if you edited interlaced)
Summary: Bubblehead gave her opinion and pointed out some problem areas, and I think you will find that you're the only one here who thinks she did so in a flaming manner. Where <i>did</i> you get "hateful douchebaggery" from again? I'm not seeing it.
You're making it sound like anyone who doesn't like your video is "elitist".
And again, you're pretty much the only one here who thinks that Bubblehead's post made her sound snobby.
A mere side comment that really has no bearing on the rest of the review.bubblehead wrote:^_^; Actually, the song is alot less intense than I remember it being.
Pointing out a very specific problem that you can fix. And by the way, here's some links:bubblehead wrote:And, um, the video was interlaced (that's where those gross horizontal lines come from. You can fix that).

A more general bit of advice, but still applicable.bubblehead wrote:As to how the video was... well, intensity only works if it's consistently well-synched to the music. This wasn't.
Starts general, then gives a specific example, plus her opinion on how the humor worked or didn't. Believe me, anyone who makes a comedy is always going to have some people who think his/her attempt at comedy just wasn't funny, so it shouldn't be taken personally.bubblehead wrote:Also, some of the visuals were more funny than intense, especially when combined with the music ("a million children fighting"). Not that funny though.
See, no hatefulness here - she even apologized!bubblehead wrote:I don't really like this one. Sorry.

No it <i>didn't!</i> What did you <i>expect</i> "constructive criticism" to sound like?NemoSperry wrote:But you see...just the way she came across with her critcism/opinion made her seem like a stuck-up little elitist bitch.
So what kind of criticism would be mature enough for you?NemoSperry wrote:Otherwise...there are better, more mature ways of criticising videos that aren't up to your highly-opinionated elitist standards than just making them seem like they're below you, and thus making you sound like a snobby little twat.

You do realize how bad this request makes you look, right?NemoSperry wrote:Thread. Dead. Now.

oh ad while I'm waiting for the vid to DL, let me point out that you are the one flaming her.
Also, why should it matter if the person giving their opinion has vids up? Or even CREATES AMVs? You don't have to be an artist to know what is good art and what it bad art. And face it, some art is just boring.

Okay, DLed the Vid. Here's my OPINIONS and things I noticed that could be done to improve the video. And yes, I DO make AMV's. I'm on a panel at a con giving advice on how to make good AMV's. So yeah, I know what I'm talking about.
-Interalacing, like bubblehead mentioned, needs to be fixed and it can easily be done. As it is..it's an eyesore and greatly dtreacts from the video.
-You need more cuts. The beginning was rather nice, but then the music stayed at the same pace but the cuts got longer. It just did not suit it and lost the entire mood of the work.
-For such a large filesize, I expected better quality. It was quite pixilated almost throughout the video.
-It had a very strong opening with descent timing.
-the music quality could have been much better. If you used an MP3, DON'T, if you ripped it yourself, try it again, it sounded muffled 0.o
-I've never seen the show but I'm a bit interested now ^^
-I think if you fised your attitude and outlook on this community, there are plenty of people that would be willing to help you to become a great editor. I can see the talant there, you just need to mature and let it cultivate. Noone's first vid is all that great ^^ I won't even host mine here. (gah Hellsing and Metallica >< it was sooo bad!)
take a look at these guides before you start your next project. They will help the problems addressed here.

All she did was give her opinion. Not all opinions are good. Face it. It was your first vid, if you cannot handle people's honest opinions, please don't bother uploading and asking for them.Opinions appreciated; flames not accepted.

Everything that has been said has been taken into consideration.
In the end...you all just don't get it.
On a ligher note, here is a picture of Rei Ayanami.

I for one like when people are brutally honest on my vids like bubblehead, then when they say they like it, you know they realy liked it and not just trying to be nice. As someone elses sig whos name I cannot remember, said, In the face of critisim, "Shut up and make it better."
Anyway bubblehead wasn't flaming, she's just outspoken with her opinons and may seem harsh to those who don't know her. Shes just helpin.

I apologize for this mess.
I just didn't appreciate my first opinion being something so brutally honest that it could be construed as what I construed it as, especially when it seems I may actually have some talent.
Things like this have happened before in other art forms I have entered (and have talent in), and it is quite stymying.
But who am I to say? Hitori is right, and I realize I have overdrawn my cred points with this thread.

Specific response
Should have come to expect a rather urbane answer as that.DaPatches wrote:oh ad while I'm waiting for the vid to DL, let me point out that you are the one flaming her.

I thought this community forum for a-m-v.org was for discussion and support of fellow craftspeople. But hey...I could be wrong.
"Those who can, do. Those who can't, become critics."Also, why should it matter if the person giving their opinion has vids up? Or even CREATES AMVs? You don't have to be an artist to know what is good art and what it bad art. And face it, some art is just boring.
Tell me...has Roger Ebert ever done any films? How about Gene Shalit? Have any literary or art critics done any of their respective media? Or at least enough to get recognition to where they wouldn't have to become critics? I think not.
Oh, joy! An expert who runs a panel! I need to take this seriously why?___
Okay, DLed the Vid. Here's my OPINIONS and things I noticed that could be done to improve the video. And yes, I DO make AMV's. I'm on a panel at a con giving advice on how to make good AMV's. So yeah, I know what I'm talking about.
Didn't find out about it until too late. Is there something in the ripping process? Or maybe when the clips are all merged from the project to a WMV file in WMM2? Is there something I'm missing here, Miss Expert?-Interalacing, like bubblehead mentioned, needs to be fixed and it can easily be done. As it is..it's an eyesore and greatly dtreacts from the video.
I assume you meant the "bus crash" scene. I had that put in because I thought it was cool. But obviously, this fell victim to the elitist tastes of the AMV arts community.-You need more cuts. The beginning was rather nice, but then the music stayed at the same pace but the cuts got longer. It just did not suit it and lost the entire mood of the work.
I'm sorry to have ruined your expectations, Your Highness.-For such a large filesize, I expected better quality. It was quite pixilated almost throughout the video.
That wasn't so hard now, was it?-It had a very strong opening with descent timing.
Are you on crack? Hard of hearing? Does your rig suck or something? Is there some sucktacular sound card you're using that I'm not? Do I have to conform to your disabled computer so the sound is not as muffled? o.O-the music quality could have been much better. If you used an MP3, DON'T, if you ripped it yourself, try it again, it sounded muffled 0.o
You'll like it. It's one of those rare finds.-I've never seen the show but I'm a bit interested now ^^
1.) It's not just my attitude and outlook on the community...but on fandom and artists themselves. A lot of people just don't get it, and like to hide behind a face of hostility. There are A LOT of snobs in art, writing, and fandom these days that just don't see my talent; rather they strike me down because I don't suit their tastes.-I think if you fised your attitude and outlook on this community, there are plenty of people that would be willing to help you to become a great editor. I can see the talant there, you just need to mature and let it cultivate. Noone's first vid is all that great ^^ I won't even host mine here. (gah Hellsing and Metallica >< it was sooo bad!)
2.) Don't be so hard on yourself. Or maybe the "HellsingxMetallica" video conjured up nightmarish visions of you being flamed to high heaven by AMV-snobs?
Ah, the GUIDE REFERENCE! A very subtle way of saying "YOU SUCK!"take a look at these guides before you start your next project. They will help the problems addressed here.
