The first anime I watched was "good, clean" stuff like the heavily edited Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura. After that, I started watching mainstream stuff like Bebop, Kenshin, and Trigun, since that's what my anime-loving friends first introduced me to.
I was originally kind of unsettled by the idea of violence and sex in "cartoons"...but since then I've started watching things like Weiss Kreuz, Saiyuki, Ninja Scroll, and even a few shounen-ai/yaoi shows, all of which I discovered on my own. So yes, I can definitely say my taste in anime has evolved.

Mmm not really. I started off liking shojo *namely Sailor Moon* and do still enjoy it. Most of my collection is shojo.
However, I get into just about anything as my dvd collection will dictate. I suppose one form of 'evolving' may be my artists of choice. For example, I'm now an avid reader/watcher of anything Clamp.

Let's put it this way. My addiction to anime started when I watched the horrible Cardcaptors. Luckly, I discovered the true nature of the series Cardcaptor Sakura and started getting addicted to the art by CLAMP. Then I saw X/1999 the movie, and I was like, "This was created by CLAMP?!!!"
Yea, the violence factor seriously caught me off guard since I wasn't used to decapitations and nudity....until now.

My taste didn't evolve.. It imploded, tok a 180 degree turn, got a split personality, exploded and some other things I'd rather not mention... Hay, there are kids here!
Mayby I should be a little serious... Yes, my taste evolved. The first anime I ever saw was Silver Fang. But back then I didn't know what anime was. A few years later the Dragon Ball manga was realesed in Sweden, and naturaly I read a few books, and a few more... I was hooked! But natutaly Dragon Ball wasn't enught for me! Who'd be satisfied with that?! So I read some more manga and saw some more anime... Bla bla bla bla!!! To keep this short: I went from crappy series where all they do is hit eachother as hard as they can... To slaptick locie dovie comedy.. To pure hearted comedy.. To the more serious and complex series and movies... And now I like just about any anime. And yes, almost every anime I've seen! So far I only hate one... There are a few i dislike but there is only one I really hate...

My tastes haven't really changed all that much. I also started with DBZ. I liked the action. Then I moved on to more action/serious/horror based anime like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, Evangelion, Boogiepop Phantom, Spriggan and the like. Now I'm sort of in this Comedy fix. I felt I needed stuff that was less serious and depressing at times. Excel Saga and Puni Puni Poemi have helped me with that. Probobly the only stage I went through and have grown away from is the romance catagory. I tried a little of that and realised I hate sappy stuff like that. It also makes me feel hollow when I finish watching it. Not for me. So My tastes have changed, yeah. But they still remain pretty focused on serious and action anime.

Ah I see you watched that too. It was actually that program Friday nights (what was it channel 62 or something) that caught my eye. I think the action is what kept me watching and wanting to find out more about anime. Then on 26 the U that Sailor Moon special came on with Apollo Smile and they showed when Rei became a senshi. That let me know that anime wasn't just action packed stories. I got to experience some version of love stories, bonding, and other girls type of anime. Since then I think I have had some preference of that type of anime. I was stuck in this mode until I got to college. There was the stuff on CN but that still had the teamwork, fight some common evil thing going on. In college I got exposed to Berserk and Initial D among other shows. They were actually good so that took me to a new level of trying out different generas of anime. I have been that way since. Only thing is that now I might take a blind chance on one dvd or something if it's cheap to see if I like the show. So far I haven't been disappointed. That's my evolution as of right now.OmniStrata wrote: Some of the stuff I saw on Japanimation kinda caught my eye, but oh, the mosaic blur was just soooo useful [not]
