frankly though, I don't see how the existence of American copycats is a problem. Imitation the best form of flattery? And, really, it doesn't replace Japanese anime anywhere except on Nick and, err... correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Nick NOT known for showing anime?

Anyways, I'd see what it's actually like first. It certainly doesn't sound like it'll give the more serious anime titles a run for their money, but hey, the kids might actually like it

Better idea: Is this the part where someone points out that Osamu Tezuka, <a href="http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=U ... considered by many</a> to be the "father of anime", was quite influenced by the artwork of Disney?

Cultures borrow from other cultures all the time. Anime is no exception, and neither are American anime-styled toons. Get over it.

Frankly I like that.

No but I would be rather disappointed if anime were influenced by American way of thinking, muddy the pool if you will. its unique because its foreign, I wouldn’t want to change that by domesticating it. probably just being paranoid tho. alls well that ends well

Who cares about the US or any other place.
If Japan is ok, anime/manga is ok, I'm ok.
It's pointless.

And the most important thing:

I care. I LIVE IN THE FRICKIN US. i don't want the majority of the animation and comics here to be an anime rip-off.

If it sells, they will produce it.

Why should a show be considered so special just because it's from Japan? What matters to me is whether I enjoy it or not.

Everyone knows that but he also thought what Matsumoto Reiji did...Western storytelling was too simple.
True they were influenced after the US occupation after WWII but its moot point.
