frankly though, I don't see how the existence of American copycats is a problem. Imitation the best form of flattery? And, really, it doesn't replace Japanese anime anywhere except on Nick and, err... correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Nick NOT known for showing anime?
Anyways, I'd see what it's actually like first. It certainly doesn't sound like it'll give the more serious anime titles a run for their money, but hey, the kids might actually like it

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Define "not real", please.Kajino Rei wrote:Some people are stupid it seems:
Anime - from Japan
Amerime - not real and it'll fade (hopefully)
Can anyone understand that it doesn?t matter if other people, regions or countries make anime-styled things?
Anime is from Japan for Japan.
Get it people, please.
So a bunch of Americans make an American cartoon, for an American audience, with an art style that makes it look Japanese... SO WHAT.
Is this the part where someone points out that The Big O II was co-produced by Cartoon Network because of the first season's popularity in the USA?
Better idea: Is this the part where someone points out that Osamu Tezuka, <a href="http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=U ... considered by many to be the "father of anime", was quite influenced by the artwork of Disney?
Cultures borrow from other cultures all the time. Anime is no exception, and neither are American anime-styled toons. Get over it.

Frankly I like that.
*smacks lips*on oh so many occasions
Frankly I like that.
As I've said before (Kajino Rei quotes):No but I would be rather disappointed if anime were influenced by American way of thinking, muddy the pool if you will. its unique because its foreign, I wouldn’t want to change that by domesticating it. probably just being paranoid tho. alls well that ends well
Anime rip-offs do nothing to anime itself.
And the most important thing:Who cares about the US or any other place.
If Japan is ok, anime/manga is ok, I'm ok.
It's pointless.
That is all...Anime is from Japan for Japan.

If it sells, they will produce it.Bulghod wrote:I care. I LIVE IN THE FRICKIN US. i don't want the majority of the animation and comics here to be an anime rip-off.Kajino Rei wrote: So it appears.

Why should a show be considered so special just because it's from Japan? What matters to me is whether I enjoy it or not.

Not real as in "not real anime" or not really anime.
Anime is not Disney.
True they were influenced after the US occupation after WWII but its moot point.

Everyone knows that but he also thought what Matsumoto Reiji did...Western storytelling was too simple. Is this the part where someone points out that Osamu Tezuka, considered by many to be the "father of anime", was quite influenced by the artwork of Disney?

No bloody shit Einstein.Of course it's "not really anime", and of course Disney isn't anime, because they're not Japanese.
That's the only thing that makes anime anime (last I checked), is that it's produced in Japan by Japanese.
Did you ignore the rest of the post and all of my previous posts?
That's what I've been saying.
People, regions and countries may adapt and make anime-style things.
In the end it matters not.

as long as they are considered ripoff, what if somebody gets stupid and thinks its a good idea??Anime rip-offs do nothing to anime itself.

As I said before Duke, rip-offs of any kind are worthless and meaningless.
Do not concern yourself with such banality.
Frankly this whole discussion is pointless.
