And one thing I hope American creators don't lift from the Japanese is the "unfinished manga --> anime gets crappy ending" syndrome...Coffee 54 wrote:I can whole heartly agree to that. One thing I would like to see American creators lift from the Japanese is the conclusion. Series with a full story to tell, beginning, middle and end. You just get the feeling when shows like Samurai Jack were started there was never any specific end in mind.

It would be nice to have more American cartoons that are more like anime. Not so much in art style (it really doesn't matter what kind of style it's drawn in) but more so in storyline.

I know what you mean.
Remember Pirates of Dark Water, and Swat Kats. Those Shows, like Samuri Jack, need endings instead of just being left unfinished.

That’s the major problem with then, simply put its not anime, it isn’t thought of as a series 26 or however many episodes, its a cartoon, like the jetsons or the simpsons. There good in their own right but they don’t try to copy the success of anime, like the other shows. For money reasons the leave the show open ended so that they can keep it going for a long as possible, even long lived anime is put out in seasons, where there is an "end" but open ended enough that they can keep it going if people demand it enough.
There is no such thing, think of magusXLR (or whatever) even if you watch just 2 episodes like I have its obvious there is no such "end", it will just run continuously until it gets canceled. to networks it will forever be just cartoons. And one thing I hope American creators don't lift from the Japanese is the "unfinished manga --> anime gets crappy ending" syndrome...

I'm seeing this "animization" trend EVERYWHERE. I realize this can't last long but it's really making me sick the way our culture is exploiting something like anime.
I guess what bothers me the most is that it feels like they expect people like us to buy into stuff like that. It insults my sensibilities, taste and intelligence.

I don't like Samurai Jack (c'mon it's done by the same guy who did Dexter. he admitted himslef that he made Samurai jack becuase cartoons in his day weren't action oriented enough).TheKorovaMilkbar wrote:I know what you mean.

Now, Pirates of the Dark Water and Swat Kats, those were good shows.
heh heh *cough* anyone remember Road Rovers? Corny, but it was funny in its own way.
Speaking of Animezation trend, a testament to Japan's influnece on pop culuture is those Bratz Tokyo Ago Ago, or whatever the hell they're called.
Bratz are bascially the ghetto Barbie, and knowing the most popular kind of muisic now, if the Ghetto Barbie is going to Japan, there's gonna be much more showing up.....

DUDE! Road Rovers kicked ASS! I forgot about that show. It came on right before Swat Kats for a while.
Swat Kats has and will always be my #1 favorite cartoon show.

Gennedy T, who did Dexters lab also did several parodies of anime in Dxters lab because he is a anime fan.
As mentioned bfroe imitation is the sincerest form of flahtery, but I wouldnt go so far as to call it anime. I am just glad to see that anime has reached a mainstream point that it influences the work of others.
BTW, wasnt Batman the animated series animated by Sunrise Studios?
