Umm......a girlfriend?
Crap! Is that why I'm not macho?

:x And here I was thinking hard music had nothing to do with my being single...

Well, I for one blast some THRaKaTTaK or Captain Beefheart full volume on occasion. I seriously doubt anyone with 'conventional' music tastes would not be revulted
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

*cough* sarcasm *cough*

Besides, Oto, being MACHO is not a good thing. I look at that word as a state of attitude. (i.e. feeling tough and invincible)

Again this is only my humble opinion

No, I'm no hardcore metal fan, though I am sympathetic to this musical direction.

But you are THE King Crimson fan.

You're just hardcore in your own way.

As for me, I guess I'm THE Orgy fan.

But my music tastes are eclectic and I listen to just about anything. (for the most part. Rap is something I try to avoid. mainly becasue the style of music has offered very little that I enjoy. Favorite type of music is electro rock)

Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Evergrey, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, Dragonforce, Dream Theater, Dream Evil, Metallica, Megadeth, Sonata Arctica, Dio, Edguy, Yngwie Malmsteen, Hammerfall, Jag Panzer, Symphony X, Gamma Ray, Nevermore, Testament, Judas Preist, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Zakk Wylde & TBLS, Manowar?
I can say, honestly that I listen to those bands more than most people here (aside from Rubeye), but god. The way you claim these bands are "real metal" is just appalling. I love metal. But if I have to share the metal world with people like you, I'd sooner listen to pop.

Iced Earth, Evergrey, old Metallica, most Megadeth, Nightwish, Star One, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Pain of Salvation, Andromeda, Therion, Kamelot, Liquid Tension Experiment, Gordion Knot, Adagio, Malmsteen... I can name bands out of my ass too.

A real metalhead listens to all metal, and doesn't exude elitism like you do. Take it somewhere else. The Dream Theater boards eat it up.

I'm pretty sure he was refering to bands he listens to, giving an example of the metal he likes. Jesus, how often do we who listen to metal question people who claim to like metal on the bands they listen to? I think this was more of a pre-emptive strike at that question. I know I sure wouldn't declare myself to a metal community without giving some of the band names I like, if to just avoid the initiation question of "what bands do you listen to?" Because like it or not, it's half riddled with sarcasm. Always. If you reply with LINKIN PARK AND GODSMAQ, as so many of us metal heads think many people will, there'd be problems.

That out of the way, The 35th Delco, the bands you listed, may I also recomend Elvenking, Freternia, Brainstorm, Tuatha de Danann, Mercenary, Finntroll, Iron Savior (Which I think you'll like a lot), Demons and Wizards, Agalloch, Gamma Ray, Haggard, Nightwish, Primal Fear, Virgin Steele?

The last CD I listened to was Autopsy's first album. Barren Cross's live disc is sitting on top of my player. Next on the pile is Beyond The Embrace's Insect Song.

[useless elitism]
If you don't know who any of those bands are, go back to grooving on Casey Casem, poser.

In addition to nailz's recs, let me put up Grave Digger, Control Deined, Arcana XXII, Zero Hour, Savatage, Sinergy, and Children of Bodom. Good stuff, all around.

Oh, and stop listening to HammerFall. Friends Don't Let Friends Support Cheese.

skywide, armspread : forward, upward
Coelem - Tenebral Presence single now freely available

Poor Hammerfall, they get no respect. ;_; ... No, we let friends support cheese, otherwise, you'd have said something about Rhapsody too. ;)
