Video game footage vs. Anime footage

No, I've seen some neat stuff done with video game footage incorporated. (my brother, for instance, did some neat/creative things with the Half-Life engine...

That's probably machinima ("machine cinema", pardon my speling). You basicly take a video game environment and some characters, scripting the action and then using PC tools to record it as a movie file. Some very cool stuff (amateur mini-movies and even profesional in-game cinema shots) have been done with the technology.

Problem with that is, I don't think the technology is designed for use with console games, which is what many VGMVs on this site would be concearned with (if they're to even remotely fit with the theme of this site at all, the games should be Japanese in origin, and I only know of a few such games, namely FFVII, FFVIII and FFXI, that have PC ports.) The closest way I can think of to get custom clips from console games is to hook the console up to a capture card and play the game while capturing the footage.

You could always do Gordan Freeman vs The Aliens From Blue Gender. Or have a fleet from Homeworld duke it out with the Abh Navy. I'd almost pay money to see that.

um yeah here's a link to a video game music video dedicated to an amv member who inspired this video. it stresses the limitations of this sites rules but i'm not entirely sure as to whether they realize it or not lol. and that stressing limitation is the Doom 3 footage within the video and the actual gameplay footage, but its worthy as a video in my understanding, but check it out, its kinda under the terms of this forum anyhow
