loadsa questions...
I have a few questions...even though i consider myself to be somewhere between advanced and novice i still need some help with these things:
i have no idea how to put a white flash into a vid in Premiere 6.5, i know how to do most things, this just never came up before.
oh and also, seeing as how i'm British and have PAL DVDs what sort of de-interlacing/teleciding do i need to do?
and another thing: what sort of filters do i need to apply to footage like this:
i know it looks pretty good but i was wondering if it needed smoothing or anything like that, if so could someone tell me what, and maybe even an AVISynth function...
i know this is a lot to ask but i really want to get the video on my next vid looking it's best...

Re: loadsa questions...
to add a "white flash" to a video stream, just replace the frame thatZaphod_Beeblebrox wrote:... how to put a white flash into a vid in Premiere 6.5 ...
should be "white" with a "litteral white picture".
( I did that in my "how to frizel your Rizel" AMV last year. )

Well see, the problem is that you posted a lossy JPEG, so we don't know how much of the compression noise was from the DVD, and how much was from the JPEG compression you sent it through.Zaphod_Beeblebrox wrote:and another thing: what sort of filters do i need to apply to footage like this:

Just looking at it, though, I'd say that it could definitely use some smoothing (probably both temporal and spatial), as well as a derainbowing treatment.

unfortunately thats pretty much the DVD quality (damn manga for putting 6 eps on a disc!), so whatever you can take from that frame is what it'll need.
and with regards to the guides: last time i read them they had pretty much nothing about PAL footage...or maybe i just didn't read fully enough but thats not the point, either way i missed it, thanks for the help

Isn't there a "Strobe" filter in Premiere unless it's just in 4.2 but that would be stupid to get rid of it. Unless you're talking about only one flash, that's easy, just make a white bitmap and place it where you want the flash.
Also, the quality seems good to me and if it's DVD quality I'm not sure how you can improve it, you could add some smoothing or something if you want to but that's kind of it.
As far as interlacing or anything like that, I never do that stuff so I wouldn't know. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

scintilla: that'll be the problem then, i didn't look at EADBAG much 'cos last time i installed the AMVapp 2.0 in screwed up my XviD/DivX decoders and crashed explorer repeatedly....but that seems to have been ironed out now. thanks
xShifty_Eyesx: yeah, i was looking for the single flash type, and thanks for the help, i thought that was how to do it but i was wondering if there was an easier way. FYI: the "stobe" effect does exist in premiere 6.5 what exactly does it do though? i've never used it...
