An English Dubbing Better Than Subbing??

Can anyone give a true example of an anime with better English dubbing than the original Japanese with subbing? I am quite curious as to if there is such an example because I have yet to find one.

This topic is a matter of opinion but if one really believes that a certain dubbing is better than a subbing please present that point of view. The matter can then be discussed and argued by respective members of the a-m-v.org Forum.

English dubbing surpassing the Japanese, you say? I KNOW most of the people will say Cowboy Bebop (of which I agree).

But in my opinion, the English dub that defintely surpasses the Japanese is AnimEigo's release of Your Under Arrest. I've carefully watched both versions, and I definetely enjoyed the English dub from Coastal Carolina Studios more. The way the voice actors and actresses performed was really something. They were able to convey certain emotions from the characters of which the Japanese didn't know it had. The English VAs gave its characters signature voices which sounded really pleasent like Tamara Burnham Mercer who gave the voice of Natsumi rugged tomboyish voice and Marc Matney who gave the voice of Ken a humourous "heroic-type" voice. The VAs were able to play off each others lines so there's a really good amount of chemistry among the VAs.

Hana Yori Dango. Never have I been forced to watch a dub simply because the original language version was so horrid. The Japanese seiyuu sound a good 20 years older than the characters they're trying to portray (high school students), and they really REALLY sound like they don't want to be there. I've never heard such a lack of emotion in any dub, Japanese or otherwise. Therefore, I watch HYD ("Boys Over Flowers" stateside) in English. However, since it's dubbed by the Ocean Group, I don't mind watching it dubbed at all. In fact, I think I've grown to love the show even MORE by watching it in English.. which is.. kinda strange.. but more enjoyable!

Cool. I've seen the dub and sub of You're Under Arrest and I see what you're saying. I guess I never really thought about it like that.

The tomboyish voice of Natsumi as well as the comical voice of the infamous STRIKEMAN (English VA by Jason Hatfield) stood out in my mind from the English dubbed version. I didn't much like the voice of Yoriko however, it was somewhat annoying.

Wow. I've never come across that either. At least it is dubbed and can still be enjoyed.

New Generation Pictures hired British actors to do some of the roles as well as let some of their regulars give off British accents (well with the exception of Crispan Freeman unfortunetely ). Obviously, since Hellsing takes place in England, British accents are a MUST (I mean it's sounds SO weird listeing a bunch of Japanese people in England). That goes the same with the dubbing of Licensed by Royalty.

I am also one of those people who say Cowboy Bebop. It's got to be the best dub as well. Also I think that Yu Yu's dub is better then it's sub.

I can see that as a benefit of the English dubb. I'd like to watch Hellsing with the English accent dubbing. Thanks.
