Ayame cracks me up. He's so funny; it's a shame Yuki and Kyo can't relax enough to enjoy his outrageousness. I laughed hardest during his scenes.
The part with Haru and the student body president is one of my favorite parts too. Actually, my exact favorite part is when Tohru asks Haru how he proved it, and Haru offers to show her. ^_^ His smirk is just great!
I've got nearly all the manga, Volumes 3-5 in English, 6-14 in Japanese. I'm missing the first two because I love this series moreso for Haru's existence than anything else. He's my new favorite anime character. EVER.
I don't like the Prince Yuki fan club either. That's annoying and uninteresting (to me anyway).
Overall, I'd say the story in the manga is better since it allows for more development of characters and their relationships, but it also drags at times or covers things I'm not particularly interested in sometimes.

The very thing that I am trying to prove to not exist is the very thing holding me back...

There are currently 15 volumes, and it's still going. There's about 6 chapters per volume, so there's also more that hasn't been put into volumes yet.Feria wrote:Agreed!

Indeed.
It's one of my favorites.
The anime does leave you wanting for more and the manga is still alive...

Question: For anyone who reads the mangas do they go into Akito's character in any more depth? They just seemed to leave a lot out about his story. I also imagine that they have more characters than was shown in the anime.
** is thinking of starting the mangas next month....

Oooo yeah. I have a friend who's following the Japanese mangas. Man oh man, is his backstory ever the plot twist.Question: For anyone who reads the mangas do they go into Akito's character in any more depth? They just seemed to leave a lot out about his story. I used to totally love this series. However, a lot of the things the manga-ka has been doing with it have been somewhat...wrong. She's breaking a lot of the characters' personalities. I'm not sure if I should say any of it here though, because they are MAJOR spoilers.

Ok, here goes. I'll go ahead and slap up a few manga spoilers from future issues.

There's more, but I don't remember them at the moment. Tired of typing. *gasp*Spoiler wrote:Ok, to start with, Akito is not a guy. He/she/it's a girl. Who's mother had lost her husband before the birth of her child, and went psycho and decided her kid would replace her husband. Akito's been mentally messed up since birth. No wonder he...I mean she...is so out of it.
Also, Yuki's apparantly decided he's dumped Tohru. He's now going out with a member of his fan club...ok, she's not a member per say (she DID beat them all up once because she thought they were being idiots), but she does have membership for some reason despite beign one of few girls in teh school who doesn't worship the ground Yuki walks on. She's yet ANOTHER tough girl with a bad past. Please, that's been done everywhere.
It's been revealed that Tohru's mother wasn't as good as she appears in the anime. In fact, after her husband died, she completely ignored her 4 year old daughter, leaving her to fend for herself. It was only after she was heading off to commit suicide, and meeting a little orange-haired kid crying about the death/suicide of his mother (Kyo), then she realized what she's been doing to her daughter. She rushed home to become a better mother from then on out.
Kagura's given up on Kyo. She decided that she doesn't really love him, and that all it was was her feeling sorry for him. There are hints that the manga-ka is now trying to match Tohru to Kyo.
Momiji's little sister has been watching him like he's been watching her. She asks Tohru if she can ask Momiji to be her pretend older brother, because he's so cool and he looks just like her mother. Momiji is, naturally, completely thrilled (one of few GOOD things that the manga-ka has done recently)
They're trying to pair Hatori up with Tohru's teacher. It was hinted at in the...fourth or fifth volume, I belive. Anyways, this teacher is yet ANOTHER tough girl, and completely does not fit poor Hatori.
One more good thing that's been going on. Ayame is REALLY being an older brother for Yuki. Apparantly, their mother is evil incarnate (she sold Yuki to Akito just to get in good with the head of the family). Anyways, she was at Yuki's career counselling, yelling and otherwise putting poor Yuki down. In marches Ayayme, and she starts yelling even more at her (to which he simply brushes her off in his usual flamboyant manner). Yuki realizes that his brother is trying to save him.
