Tenchi Muyo! OAV 3
Sorry if this has been asked before. Alright, so I'm wondering... anyone know of any plans to bring this series to the US? Also, I've heard that there's no fandubbing of it. Is that true? 'Cause I've seen screenshots that have subtitles on 'em. I just really want to see it. From the screenshots alone I can tell it rules.

It has been licensed. I know that much. I don't know when a dub will be available however. I checked their website, Tenchi-Web, but my Japanese still isn't up to snub.

Funimation has licensed the 3rd OAV (which Im not thrilled about since they don't have the original voice actors).Yukina_Raven wrote:Sorry if this has been asked before. That stinks. Oh well, I'll just pick up the DVDs and watch it subbed like I have been. Darn, I was really hoping for a good dub.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:Funimation has licensed the 3rd OAV (which Im not thrilled about since they don't have the original voice actors).

Oh no, really?! That sucks royally. I loved all the English dub VA... even though some were annoying, I thought they fit the characters perfectly. (espically Washu and Ryoko) Oh well... it might not be that bad.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:Funimation has licensed the 3rd OAV (which Im not thrilled about since they don't have the original voice actors).
Although I might just take Coffee 54's advice.

FUNi has said that they are trying their damndest to get the original VA's, even if it means delaying the show's release in order to make a good dub.
Let's hope they get them... ANyone seen the dub of episode 17 of Tenchi GXP? Yeah, the new VA's they picked for that episode are super scary... Ryoko just doesn't sound right!

I agree 100%. I'm still pissed that they had human form Ryo-oki speak. That was just a bunch of bull shit there.Garylisk wrote:FUNi has said that they are trying their damndest to get the original VA's, even if it means delaying the show's release in order to make a good dub.

Oh well, I'd happilly wait for them to muster up the original VA's. It seems odd to me that (insert name of original dubbing studio) lost the license to funimation. I mean Tenchi as a franchise is massive, and has a huge fanbase.
I'm assuming it's just a matter of money

It's ALL money. Also... The first two Tenchi OVAs were made by AIC, and produced by Pioneer. So Pioneer had some say in who brought it over, and also had full control over the dubbing. Now, with the third OVA, the series is still made by AIC, but the producer is a company called VAP. They don't have an American company like Pioneer did, so it was up for highest bidder.. which was Funimation.
All the same, though, sometimes you have to wonder if Funimation knew what they were getting into when they decided to do Tenchi. It has one of the largest fan bases of any anime. Probably the only shows that are more popular are stuff like Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, etc... The big big names + the stuff that kids are into.
