I don't think those who made the word "sidewalk" intended it to be just for walking. We call anime music videos "anime music videos" because that's what they are: anime put to music. You're comparing a word that covers much more ground that it's name intends, to a phrase that's name pertains to a very particular form of entertainment.

If you want non-anime videos hosted, make a site like this for that intended purpose.

The site the way it is and that isn't going to change because that's the way the owner of the site wants it.

Any inconsistencies are accidental (although Transformers is deliberate because of the variation of animation location from season to season)

If you have music videos using other animation do what I do, get your own hosting and post on the ink_vids or vidding livejournal communities.

Let's not over analyse things. Anime is a Japanese animation style.

Mtv - Ah-ha! "Take on me!"
a-m-v.org - Koop - "Euphoria"

You don't go to mtv and ask them to start playing porn.
Why come here and bother saying amv's inspired the live action stuff?

well, not realy. Anime technicaly means nothing moer than japanese animation. In japan, anime is just animation. Meaning that in japan, cowboy bebop would be as much an "anime" as bugs bunny.

Could I also point out that the internet was originally created by the military?

Not that it has anything to do with the current situation.

There use to be another word for animation in japan, but (70's?) the word was officialy recognized by the japanese dicionary as a viable word for japanese animation. So yes... Anime refers to japanese animation specificly.

American Animation has another word.
