It's very good. First anime I actually went out and bought. The series that was released last year was even better.
The sword, it thirsts to drink of man,
The sword at last must win,
Today is gone, and yesterday,
Must echo in the wind.

*facepalm*

Okay, let me spell this out in very small words, Mr. Literal.

It is steampunk-ish.

It involves gathering characters from various books.

That is all.

Taking deeeeep breaths now.

Yeah read or die is seriously cool if your going to get an anime any time soon i suggest strongly that you get R.O.D

its action is top tothe music is also great and make the action even more brilliant

it also has a great story line and the ending has been critisized a lot but its perfectly understandable i assure you

btw its NOTHING like that CRAPPY league of extraordinary gentle men
which raped the brilliant comic books
that movie annoys me!

I've heard SO many good things about this OVA I've been dying to seeit! When I saw that it would be airing on Adult Swim, I was overjoyed. It's good to see AS trying new things.

I love read or die and ROD TV. the paper sisters, nancy and readman are great, the series is a classic. it's a pretty good story and you really get to know every character pretty well, EVERY character has a story. considering there are about six or eight not including the side characters, they all do full circle nicely. i have the fansub and watched it a bunch.

So...who saw the OVA last night?

I thought it was great. I have to buy it! Yomiko kind of reminds me of myself in grade school...with the messy hair, the glasses, and the somewhat alarming obsession with books. ::Happy sigh:: Ah, the good old days...when I had time to READ....

Never did save the world, though. Ah well.

I'll definitely be recommending this to my friends, especially a certain Beethoven-obsessed buddy.

I watched ROD for the third time last night.( my son has the dvd's). It is one of my favorites. Yumiko is a favorite character of mine. I'm like that, books all over the place, I just can't part with them, and often oblivious to the world when I'm reading. What an imaginative super power, able to control paper, when she stops the bullets with a sheet of paper I got a real laugh. I'm glad they didn't cut anything from the anime, the one thing better on the dvd is to set up captions at the start to see what all the little notes she wrote to herself say. Also the poster with her picture, in the book store, telling how she is their top customer, that's classic.
If you haven't seen this, rent, buy, or borrow it, I don't think you'll be sorry. :D
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?
