I think the older albums are a little bit better. I like the more simple way they go (Battalions of Fear and stuff). The newer one´s are also good but they haven´t got the old-school charm I used to like. A Night of the Opera is a very very oppulent album but it hasn´t got the depth of the earlier releases.

Necro posting is bad, but metal is good.

Well, I have to say that if you don't think ANATO has depth, you're insane. It's definitely not the same thrash/in your face style as BoF or FtB, or the straight on power and feeling of IFTOS, but it's still pretty fucking kick ass.

I dunno, I consider 250+ tracks used on ONE song to be pretty depthrific

I didn´t mean the depth of the sound more the feeling of the tracks. That all the tracks of the ANATO are real artworks is not a false statement, they are all great monuments of music but I miss BGs former charm they had when they were younger; it´s sometimes cold professional work what you find on their newer albums; I miss the passion in their songs I used to now.

Ah, I understand what you mean, but I guess thats what you get when you wait 4 years between albums.

...but whether pretentious is good or bad is a matter of what school of musical thought you belong to
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
