OMG! AWESOME SONG!

Post by requiett » Sat Oct 30, 2004 6:39 am

There's an abundence of videos that are fucking overrated due to the songs they use. I won't name names (thank you, moderators), but I'm sure you've seen them before. See how original the shit is when you turn the music off. Think about that next time you check off that re-view option.

Damn seconded.

And I think we can all guess just the types of videos you are talking about.

Videos by n00bs, for n00bs. And no one can fearlessly excercise the 10's on the op scale like a n00b can.

Actually, there's some of this shit done by people who've been around for quite a while.

You can't blame the creators on this.
Some people basicly just give opinions to the song, not paying attention to the editing. There's nothing we can do about it though :?

For me, song choice is probably the single biggest factor in re-viewability. If I don't like the song why am I going to watch the video again. That said I try not to let it effect any of my other scores, plus or minus.

Hmm...well...i'm a noob, but i think i have given out only a few 10's, and they were for vids i thought deserved them. After all...its MY opinion, if i think something is the best thing since buttered biscuts damn straight i am gonna let that show in my op scores.

Hell...i've never given anyone a perfect 10 before. But i do like to give out 9's

if a video is done poorly to a song i like, i rate it worse. because everytime i hear the song afterwards, i get memories of the crappy vid and it ruins the song.

This has bothered me a few times before too, even though it's hard to say whether or not people's opinions are based on the editing or the song or both, in some cases you just can't help but think that it's because of the song that they're marked so high. I've noticed it way more in people's first or second videos than in the more popular videos, but it's there.

With me, if a video uses a song that I've heard before and liked I'm usually disappointed when I watch it for the first time. Like with VicBond's Die Another Die, I'd actually thought about making my own vid to that song before his vid came out (even though I'd decided against it before it came out), so I was slightly disappointed by his video because it was different from what I'd imagined a good video to that song would be like. But now, Die Another Day is one of my favourite AMVs, just because I got over that and appreciated it for its sheer good editing.

But if I haven't heard the song before, and I think it's a great song, it's almost the opposite that happens. I think the video's great the first time around, but then I watch it again and realize the editing isn't so good.

-- how I tally the scores --

Post by post-it » Sat Oct 30, 2004 12:25 pm

for me, the Video makes no difference and the Song makes no difference.

1) if the music and the video work together, 5 of 10 is the score we can start at.

2) if the Video or the Audio have too low a bit-rate, -2 points.

3) if "fowl/dirty Language is used" the scroe drops you fast because there
are kids that see these AMV's - and that's not fair to them!
--- btw, which countries language you chose to use does not reflect the score.

4) if an opening title and/or closing foot note is added, +2 points.

5) if you can "see" everything clearly and cleanly, +3 points.

6) if the music is clean and clear and has no background noise, +2 points.

7) if sub-titles are in the video, they must be helping or explaining something
unknown to the viewer ... or -4 points.

O shit :o

I mean , I think that I'm one of those who makes that kind of shit!

If I turn off the song , it'll not gonna be an anime MUSIC video anymore , so if the editing looks nice with a song that I love... yeah sometimes I write some biased ops. Because , I enjoy watch AMVs that brings me fun , and not just the "technically correct".

hmm... What you think about .... use the same songs to make your vids ?

j/k
Nothing usefull here .
