But -- but -- it's not that hard to just crop them out!mystryl_shada wrote:Another thing that gets me is when people smack an AMV really bad because it has subtitles. Ok, I can understand a little bit of a downdrop, but hey-- some of us are trying to put ourselves through college, and don't HAVE the money for DVDs or Premier. I've said this in other threads, but I'll say it again. It's like saying only rich people can do AMVs. This site specifically says it's for ALL AMVs, not just DVD AMVs. So go ahead and dock it a little for subtitles, but don't automatically say it stinks just because of that.
And besides that, there's several other methods for subtitle removal that can be used effectively, and to top it all off, they're all covered in an easy-to-find guide!
I can understand why people want to use downloaded footage, but that really doesn't mean that they have to keep the subtitles in the video. It's not an issue of DVDs vs. other sources.

Sure it's not that hard to crop them out, but I've come to know that when you do the video looks like hellScintilla wrote:But -- but -- it's not that hard to just crop them out!mystryl_shada wrote:Another thing that gets me is when people smack an AMV really bad because it has subtitles. Exactly, that's why I don't crop subtitles. In my opinion, it makes the vid worse. It cuts out important visuals. I've learned to just filter out the subtitles in my head, so I really don't mind them much.

Let's just say that if half the screen is black/blurry/warped from cropping or transforming, it can detract a bit from the vid.
I still dislike subtitles, just to make sure you know
