/e wishes for an edit button....

I should rephrase...not just about the song, but is in no way in context with the song/concept. Having some subs pop up that say "Why did she eat my sandwich?", when the song/vid is trying to get an action section in is stupid.

I beg to differ. Kwasek's A Thousand Miles is, in my oppinion, a great video, and I bloody hate Vanessa Carlton. Even though I despise the song, the video is so good that I want to watch it many times.

i agree....there are lots of vids that i have where i do not like the song....but the vid itself is amazing. So while yes, if i do not like the song, i will be hesitant to DL and watch the vid....but i don't let that be a factor if i watch it over and over again.

And how are they an important visual if they're covered with writing?
You'd be suprised. So far, every cropped vid I've seen has made me writhe in agony more so than subtitled vids. It distorts, it blurrs, it streches...the list goes on. However, I don't find it that hard to mentally ignore subtitles. But if the visuals are cropped, then nothing is centered right. I've taken classes in both art and film, and seeing things out of balance really throws me off.
Obviously other people have a harder time ignoring subtitles, but I still think the whole cropped thing is even harder to ignore.

Your eyes must be a million times better than most other people's, or something.

People have thought that I've used RAWs in the past when I just used crop + resize.

Intheso, your method isn't good. :?

One person was fooled; that's not a plausible result.

And if you cropped off the bottom as well as enough from the sides (enough corresponding to the aspect ratio), then resized back to the resolution before, it would look much better. Plus the amount taken off the sides is minimal enough to sneak by. Or, do the best method, rotoscope the subtitles on non-moving shots with a multi track editor.

He must have a good eye, then? It's real noticeable. Also, if you're just being lazy and stretching it in Premiere it will look even more awful. If you're going to screw over aspect ratio, you better be doing it with better resizers in vdub and avisynth.

Or, call me crazy, buy the dvd's.

And I vouch for lockage for off topic posting... :?

We're talking about song reviewability and now subtitle removal?

Or what about if you crop enough off the top in addition to give it a proper widescreen aspect ratio? (Naturally this won't work with sources that are already 16:9, but just a thought.)
